About the role:
The Payroll Manager - Americas Operations & Compliance is part of the Xero CFO Team, which undertakes the finance function for all of Xero’s worldwide operations. The Pay Team is a global shared service, responsible for all payroll matters across the Xero Group.
The Payroll Manager - Americas Operations & Compliance is responsible for the efficient and accurate processing of end-to-end payroll for Xero. You will be supported by a team of payroll superstars to make this happen.
You will be a payroll expert and experienced people leader with a desire to mentor and coach an existing team to do the best work of their lives. You will ensure that all payroll related deliverables are delivered to the highest standard and are compliant with local legislation.
You will also maintain close relationships with in-country people experience (PX) and finance teams to ensure the Pay Team continues to support their business requirements.
What you’ll do:
- Management of payroll operations, including operational delivery of the end-to-end payroll function accurately and on-time for USA and Canada
- Management of associated payroll activities such as reconciliations, statutory compliance and reporting, including audit support as required by the finance team and/or business
- Administering payroll services in accordance with organisational policies and procedures and in line with the legislative, departmental and audit requirements
- Liaising with people experience team, providing input and support to policy changes
- Ensures compliance with federal, state, and local payroll regulations and company policies.
- Implements updates to policies and procedures, as needed
- Maintaining and developing standard practice and process guide for team to follow
- Review of payroll submissions, year-end payroll and tax matters , ensuring all requirements are met within required timeframes
- Work with the GM Payroll to implement new procedures and processes as required to support the efficient and compliant processing of Xero’s payrolls
- Contribute to a high performing, beautiful Xero culture, and an inspiring work environment aligned with the Xero values
- Motivate for excellence through building team spirit, mentoring and developing other members of the Pay team to do the best work of their lives
- Review the training needs of the team and explore suitable training, both internal and external where required
- Identifying opportunities for process improvements, automation and efficiencies in payroll operations, and implementing changes to enhance accuracy and effectiveness
What you’ll bring with you:
- 8+ years payroll management experience of USA and Canada in large organisations
- Global payroll knowledge is an advantage
- Proven experience in coaching and developing teams
- Experience with ADP and WD would be an advantage
- Strong understanding of payroll legislation
