Job Description

Salary Range: $68,000 - $80,700, commensurate with experience

The Property Accountant reports to the Assistant Controller. Responsibilities include coordinating the accounting for construction, development, and fixed assets of owner entity properties, tracking of all property development costs, and accurately record and account for owner entity fixed assets.

In this position, your main responsibilities include:

  • Track development costs, reconciling monthly construction pay applications, preparing monthly construction and escrow draw requests to lenders
  • Enter approved budgets and manage budget changes
  • Calculate various corporate billback allocations and answer related inquiries
  • Create and accurately record construction journal entries
  • Maintain Fixed Assets for ownership, operating, and corporate entities
  • Review and code for all construction related invoices and purchase orders 
  • Provide project cost and capital asset reports for annual tax returns
  • Prepare materials used for monthly construction meetings
  • Research and resolve all discrepancies on a timely basis
  • Assist with administrative tasks and special projects as assigned

Qualifications

To be successful in this position, we believe that you need the following experiences, strengths, and skills:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance
  • At least 2 years of accounting or finance experience (Yardi accounting software experience, a plus)
  • Strong Excel skills required
  • Self-motivated, detail oriented and adaptable to change with strong ability to multitask
  • Accuracy in daily work and other projects
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to effectively meet deadlines
  • Ability to demonstrate independent, objective, open-minded thinking to solve problems
  • Must be able to read, write, speak and understand the English language
