Our primary technology, supporting our ATARS product, enables pilots to simulate the cognitive challenges of flying while accessing realistic, scalable training in dynamic outdoor environments.

Job Summary

As a 3D Artist Red 6, you will take a critical role in developing 3D assets for next-generation AR/VR and mixed reality systems. You will be responsible for the creation of realistic 3D models and environments within a military setting or theme. The creation of skeletal rigging as well as the animation of aircraft and land-based vehicles. 

To achieve that mission, you will be involved in developing 3D assets and real-time 3D visualization models as well as promotional rendered materials. 

You will also create stylized visual effects using particles, animation, sprites, textures, 3D models, and shaders in the Unreal game engine providing a rich visual canvas for our software and hardware products. 

Key Responsibilities 

  • Proficiency using Autodesk 3DS Max, Maya, Blender, or similar 3D package. 

  • The ability to demonstrate, realistic modeling, texture creation, surface shaders, and materials 

  • 3D model creation experience for virtual simulations/game assets 

  • Advanced skills with hard-surface 3D modeling 

  • UVW unwrapping and texturing skills 

  • PBR texturing and rendering, within Unreal preferred 

  • Texture optimization 

  • Proficiency using Adobe Photoshop and Substance Painter 

  • The ability to rig aircraft, ground-based vehicles, and scenic props 

  • Animation and skeletal weight painting 

  • Ability to collaborate and communicate with other team members 

  • Exceptional attention to detail 

  • Attention to specifications of target hardware platforms 

  • The ability to take direction and feedback from team leads and managers 

  • Good written and communication skills 

  • Skills in documenting and creating asset pipeline guides 

  • Demonstrate a strong portfolio of commercial work and examples of your skills 

Experience, Skills, and Required Qualifications   

  • Bachelor's Degree in 3D game design or related field is preferred 

  • 4+ years of professional experience within a high-performance video game or AR/VR application or setting, preferably within the Unreal game engine environment 

  • 4+ years' experience shipping completed products within games or other 3D interactive products 

  • 4+ years' experience working as a 3D Artist 

  • Similar associate degree or Technical Certificate is also acceptable 

  • The ability to provide optimized geometry for low end target platforms, retaining visual quality and design aesthetics 

  • The ability to create material and optimized surface shaders 

  • The ability to debug and fix issues within the asset creation and export pipeline 

  • Experience with rigging and animation 

  • Experience with virtual reality hardware (Rift, VIVE, Gear VR, etc.) 

  • Experience with Jira, Perforce, and Confluence or similar bug/task tracking and version control software 

  • This position may require security clearance. To obtain clearance, employees must show proof of US Citizenship.
