Modal is building the serverless compute platform to support the next generation of AI companies. Modal was started with the goal to make it easier to iterate and ship applications for data, AI, and machine learning. In order to deliver the developer experience we wanted, we went deep and built our own infrastructure—including our own custom file system, container runtime, scheduler, container image builder, and much more.
In just a year we've hit 8-figure revenue, tripled our headcount, scaled our infrastructure to flexibly support thousands of GPUs, and become a critical part of the tech stack of some of the hottest AI companies. We've also raised over $32M from top-tier VCs.
Working at Modal means:
Being early on the journey of one of the fastest-growing AI infrastructure players, with many opportunities to grow within the company.
Having a front row seat to the latest technology and market developments in AI.
Collaborating with a fast and talented team made up of creators of popular open-source projects, academic researchers, international olympiad medalists, and experienced engineering and product leaders with decades of experience.
We’re looking for a business operations associate to join the team. This person will work closely with folks across marketing, sales, operations, and finance across a variety of initiatives to help scale the business in our next phase of growth. You'll be a generalist who gets in the weeds on all the business and operational aspects of a high-growth startup. In this role, you will:
Own, execute, and optimize key growth programs that power our PLG motion.
Lead in-person event initiatives that nurture our developer community.
Help evaluate and manage new strategic partnerships within the AI ecosystem.
Support the exec team on financial operations, from streamlining revenue collection to analyzing new opportunities for pricing/packaging & cost optimizations.
Implement new tools and processes to improve internal ops and sales workflows.
Get creative on a spectrum of ad-hoc projects like securing new office space in Manhattan.
We are looking for someone who:
Has 2+ years experience working in some kind of business function (e.g. banking, consulting, startup).
Has some exposure to tech and coding (in order to understand our product & customer, work with analytical tools, and build out custom tooling).
Is analytical, organized and detail-oriented, holds their output to a high bar of excellence.
Is eager to learn about a variety of different business functions and juggle many projects at once.
Is excited about working in-person in NYC.
We offer competitive compensation (salary and equity).
