The Operations Manager II (Manager on Duty) is the shift leader for the Operations Control Center (OCC) maintaining 24/7 oversight of the operation, directing and prioritizing the focus of all the supporting departments in Cruise to ensure operational and customer service integrity. This leader is also charged with direct managerial oversight of OCC Watch Officers. 

What you’ll be doing:

  • Managing irregular operational postures; making and escalating proposed modifications for multi-market, company-wide impacting issues. Maintaining a deep understanding of company priorities, individual market nuances, and system limitations / impacts.

  • Communicating top events to key stakeholders; exercising excellent written and verbal communications skills and judgment

  • Overseeing intelligence gathering and communication, to include daily company-wide reports that serve as the source of truth for the health of the operation along with leading regular operational status meetings.  

  • Identifying operational constraints and ensuring the appropriate resources are focused on overcoming operational disruptions, both in the tactical daily operation as well as with a relatively short-term forward look

  • Ensuring OCC cross-functional processes are understood and working

  • Ensuring a coordinated deployment plan is developed and communicated to each market 

  • Providing company-wide communications on the status of operations, ensuring awareness of operational challenges and planning course of action

  • Meeting daily with senior leadership to inform and recommend organizational and systematic improvements; driving key organizational changes and improvements

  • Partnering closely with leaders across Crisis Management, Incident Management, Remote Assistance, Customer Success, Service Operations, Global Security, Field Support

  • Maintaining coverage for 24/7 operations, schedules, ad hoc projects, etc. 

  • Defining new operating policies, authoring documents as needed

What you must have:

  • 10+ years relevant work experience 

  • Proven leadership for direct and indirect reports

  • High technical proficiency and deep operational experience 

  • Strong ‘command and control’ presence during a crisis

  • Growth mindset as it relates to company, self and development of fellow employees

  • Graduate degree or bachelor's degree with equivalent relevant work experience

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Composure; ability to work under stressful or demanding operational conditions

  • Track record of being decisive and proactive

  • Sound judgment and strong decision making skills

  • High sense of urgency and persistence

  • Confidence in dealing with people and building relationships

  • Analytical and structured approach to problem solving 

  • Ability to interface well with various operations, engineering, and executive stakeholders

  • Experience in an OCC or similar environment 

  • Experience running a 24/7 organization

  • Experience supporting rapidly scaling organizations 

  • Experience in start-up or tech companies

  • Experience working in the autonomous vehicle industry

 

The salary range for this position is $132,700 - $195,200. Compensation will vary depending on location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. You may also be offered a bonus, long-term incentives, and benefits. These ranges are subject to change.
