We’re looking for candidates who have:
- A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college/university in business administration, accounting, or related field (preferred).
- Ten+ years of accounts receivable collection experience.
- Strong analytical and problem solving-skills. Proficiency in data analysis and reporting tools.
- Knowledge of relevant regulations and compliance issues.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to handle sensitive situations with empathy and professionalism.
- Proficient use of Microsoft Office tools, particularly strong Microsoft Excel skills.
- Ellucian Colleague experience (preferred).
Key Job Duties
Mission Contribution

In this role, the Collection Director contributes to the mission by being member of a Christ-centered accounting team that is committed to serving CCU students, employees, and constituents with grace and truth.
Manage Collections
- Oversees all activities within CCU’s collection functions including all student accounts, vocational rehab, and military tuition assistance programs.
- Create and execute comprehensive collection strategies to minimize outstanding debt while ensuring compliance with legal and institutional policies.
- Establish and update collection policies and procedures, ensuring alignment with best practices and regulatory requirements, resulting in a significant impact on CCU’s accounts receivables and collection activities.
- Collaborate with VP and AVP to align collection strategy with the overall goal of CCU.
Student Accounts
- Proactively task Service Central and Financial Aid to pursue payment options for delinquent student accounts. Work closely with financial aid, admissions, and other departments to ensure a cohesive approach to student accounts.
- Foster positive relationships with students and families, addressing concerns and negotiating payment plans when necessary.
- Analyze and allocate past due student accounts and payments.
- Assist with student account issues.
- Review past due student accounts and make recommendations for bad debt write-offs.
Agency Collections
- Collect from vocational rehab and military tuition assistance programs including billing and account reconciliation.
- Direct all aspects of third-party debt collectors including pre-collection and collection agencies.
- Knowledge and compliance of legal standards for debt collection of state and federal laws.
- Negotiate and create contracts with pre-collection clients and collection agency clients. (contingency fees, cost of business, constant review of collection rates and amounts, etc.) and insuring collection rates and activity are competitive and professional according to CCU and industry standards.
Additional Collection Duties
- Monitor accounts receivable/ collections issues and implement improvements.
- Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and institutional regulations related to collections.
- Prepare regular reports on collection performance, trends, and metrics to present to senior leadership. Analyze data to identify areas for improvement.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Work Environment
While performing the duties of this job, you may be required to walk, stand, sit, reach with hands and arms, balance, stoop, speak with clarity, and have appropriate vision and hearing capabilities. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. You may be required to work occasional irregular hours, including some nights and weekends. Colorado Christian University expects all faculty and staff to become a part of the University community by participating in activities and events that occur on the campus throughout the year, which may occur during evenings and weekends.

Pay and benefits will be discussed in more detail as candidates progress through the interview process. The pay range for this job is $70,000 to $75,000 annually. Pay is assigned by reviewing a combination of job-related factors that may include: internal/external pay equity, the salary structure/pay grade, or a candidate’s qualifications/experience for the job. A wage range posted is not a guarantee of a specific wage and CCU reserves the right to make pay decisions based on economic and equity considerations.
