The Pursuit Manager is responsible for overseeing, coordinating, and driving pursuit-related activities in close collaboration with technical teams and marketing/business development professionals. This role focuses on delivering high-quality work products, including proposals, marketing collateral, and client presentations, to support business capture efforts.


Key responsibilities include managing and executing the pursuit process, facilitating thorough go/no-go decision-making, and ensuring the development of responsive, client-centric, and thematic materials. The Pursuit Manager will also support presentation and interview preparations, contribute to content development, and leverage database systems and processes to enhance long-term pursuit strategies.


Success in this role requires excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to meet tight deadlines while maintaining high standards. The Pursuit Manager serves as a key contributor to the firm's business development efforts by ensuring timely and strategic execution of pursuit-related activities. This role also requires adaptability to change, a commitment to continuous process improvement, and the ability to implement and manage enhancements that drive efficiency and effectiveness.



Duties & Responsibilities
  • Lead Content Development: Oversee the creation and refinement of qualification materials, including resumes, project descriptions, brochures, proposals, presentations, and other marketing assets, while maintaining adherence to brand guidelines, quality standards, and the company's pursuit processes.
  • Manage Proposal Processes: Facilitate proposal-related activities, including reviewing RFP/RFQ documentation, summarizing tasks, and planning production schedules to ensure organized and efficient execution.
  • Coordinate Proposal Reviews: Develop and manage proposal review schedules in collaboration with technical team leadership and supervisors, ensuring all materials are completed, reviewed, and submitted on time.
  • Support Go/No-Go Decisions: Participate in the go/no-go evaluation process by assessing available resources, outlining pursuit schedules, and collaborating with supervisors and team members to inform decisions.
  • Develop Competitive Strategies: Assist in crafting competitive analyses and developing winning strategies to enhance the firm’s likelihood of project awards.
  • Pre-Proposal Campaigns: Contribute to pre-proposal efforts, including targeted marketing campaigns, strategic advertising or social media initiatives, public relations efforts, and collateral development to support business activities.
  • Maintain High-Performance Standards: Consistently meet or exceed deadlines while supporting industry-leading hit rates.
  • Drive Process Improvements: Identify and recommend enhancements to departmental processes and efficiencies; collaborate with supervisors and colleagues to strategize and implement improvements.
  • Other Responsibilities: Perform additional duties and tasks as assigned to support the team and firm objectives.


Minimum Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred (marketing, communications, business, or related field is a plus); relevant professional experience may be substituted.
  • Demonstrated experience of more than six (6) years within the architecture/engineering/construction (AEC) or similar industry, with a proven track record in proposal or pursuit management.
  • Microsoft Office Suite: Advanced proficiency in Word, Excel, and PowerPoint for document creation, data management, and presentations.
  • Adobe Creative Suite: Experience with InDesign is highly preferred, with additional familiarity in Photoshop and Illustrator being a plus.
  • Collaboration Tools: Familiarity with tools like SharePoint, Microsoft Teams, or other project collaboration platforms.


Skills
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills to collaborate effectively with internal and external stakeholders, including technical teams, leadership, and clients.
  • Ability to quickly analyze and distill complex information into clear, concise, and compelling written and visual materials.
  • Familiarity with CRM systems or proposal management tools (e.g., Salesforce, Deltek, Cosential) is a plus.
  • Flexibility and adaptability to manage shifting priorities and evolving needs in a dynamic work environment.
  • Commitment to continuous learning and staying updated on industry trends and best practices in marketing, pursuit management, and business development.
  • Experience with or openness to change management practices, driving improvements in processes, workflows, and team collaboration.
  • Leadership potential or previous leadership experience is a plus, particularly in guiding team members through deadlines and project challenges.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills to effectively collaborate and convey ideas within a team setting.
