Job Summary
The Materials Coordinator at our company plays a key role in supporting the materials team by assisting with garment specifications, conducting wash testing, maintaining organized records, and managing data entry. This role requires strong attention to detail, excellent organizational skills, and a collaborative approach to ensure that materials processes are seamless and efficient, contributing to the overall success of the product development cycle.
Key Responsibilities
Garment Specification Support:
Assist in creating and updating garment specifications, ensuring accurate details for materials and construction are documented.
Collaborate with the materials team to verify specifications align with product requirements and design intent.
Wash Testing:
Conduct and document wash tests to evaluate fabric and garment performance against quality standards.
Record results, flag issues, and communicate findings to the materials and production teams for resolution.
Filing and Organization:
Maintain an organized system for storing physical and digital material swatches, test results, and production records.
Ensure easy access to materials-related documents for the team by updating and organizing filing systems regularly.
Data Entry and Reporting:
Input material details, testing results, and specifications into internal databases with precision.
Generate reports on material performance, testing outcomes, and inventory for team reference.
Team Collaboration:
Support the materials team in coordinating with design, production, and sourcing departments.
Assist in tracking project timelines and material delivery schedules to keep the development process on track.
Qualifications
Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in Textiles, Fashion Merchandising, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
1-3 years of experience in materials development, apparel production, or a similar role is preferred.
Skills and Competencies:
Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
Basic understanding of garment construction and fabric properties.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, etc.) and data management systems.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to multitask and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Skills:
Familiarity with garment testing procedures and quality assurance processes.
Experience with Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) software is a plus.
