Redwood Credit Union is looking for a Electronic Services Specialist II that wants something more!

Provide technical expertise in administration of payment and item processing for Redwood Credit Union. Under limited supervision, perform a wide variety of semi-routine accounting, regulatory compliance, clerical, product quality control and technical duties of moderate complexity. This intermediate level position is responsible for fraud prevention, recovery, and daily operations for area of responsibility.


Essential Functions

Member Service

• Provide superior service that meets RCU Service Standards and Values to Members and team members of Redwood Credit Union.

• Responsible for one or two critical areas of payment processing.

• Manage and implement regulatory compliance for area of responsibility.

• Review, process exceptions in compliance with regulations, balance reports and create return files to the Federal Reserve Bank; work directly with FRB to resolve issues; move daily files for MDC/ATM, check in clearings, check and ACH exceptions and returns, ACH and RCUpay, in large sums of monies.

• Process Federal Reserve Bank adjustments and collections to minimize losses to the Credit Union and Members.

• Balance general ledgers and perform reconciliations.

• Monitor, research, and resolve ATM out of balance situations affecting deposits and Member disputes.

• Research, analyze, and resolve Members' problems or complaints with accurate information through verbal and/or written communication. Make recommendations and provide solutions.

• Monitor OPA (courtesy pay) system and daily processes to ensure compliance and Member service.

• Work with Branches and departments providing direction to resolve balancing errors.

• Detect fraud and trends in multiple payment channels

• Investigate Member fraud/dispute claims. Work with other institutions to recover and mitigate fraud losses on behalf of Members and the Credit Union.


Department and Branch Support

• Support and answer the Electronic Services phone que.

• Project support and implementation.


Other Functions

• Train branches and staff as needed in Electronic Services processes and procedures.

• Review processing solutions and make recommendations.

• Cross train in all Electronic Services areas to assist as back-up during vacation or illness.

• Compile monthly status report, general ledger reconciliations and board reports.

• Perform other duties as assigned.



Minimum Qualifications: Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Thorough knowledge of a PC with the use of word processing and spreadsheet software.
  • Intermediate knowledge of financial services, with the ability to understand the implications of Credit Union industry and regulations, terminology, and procedures and how to apply them.
  • Intermediate knowledge in Federal Reserve Bank processing.
  • Intermediate knowledge in detecting fraud and trends in multiple payment channels.
  • Ability to analyze processes and recommend changes for efficiency; ability to propose solutions for implementation.
  • Intermediate processing experience in at least one of the following areas, checks, ACH, RCUpay, Bill Pay, alternative payments, OPA (courtesy pay), ATM and MDC.
  • Intermediate knowledge in Regulation CC and Regulation E.
  • Ability to manage and direct payment and item processing channel.
  • Ability to work successfully in a high volume, technically demanding job.
  • Ability to work independently, is self-motivated and resourceful.
  • Ability to accurately calculate interest and dividends and make mathematical computations.
  • Ability to troubleshoot a wide variety of Member account discrepancies while being sensitive Member issues, confidentiality, and discretion.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with a diverse group of people.
  • Ability to work a rotating schedule which will include working on rotating Saturdays.


Physical Requirements
  • Ability to stand, bend, stoop, sit, walk, reach overhead, twist, and turn.
  • Ability to lift up to 40 pounds.
  • Ability to use a computer keyboard and calculator.
  • Work environment is indoors; majority of the time is spent sitting at a desk.


The ideal candidate has a combination of education and experience equivalent to an associate degree, with a minimum of three years’ experience in customer service, accounting, or closely related field. Prior experience at a financial institution is required, and knowledge of back-office item processing is preferred.


Compensation: Base starting range: $25.00 to 33.00 per hour.

Our base salary starting range is based on scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/training, key skills, and internal peer equity.
