Our client based in Miami, FL is hiring a Financial Controller to join the accounting team!
Overview:
We are a fast-growing hospitality company seeking an experienced and ambitious Financial Controller to join our dynamic team. This role is ideal for a motivated professional looking to grow within the organization and play a critical role in shaping our financial strategy, optimizing performance, and driving sustainable growth. Reporting to the CFO- the Financial Controller will develop and produce routine summary financial reports required to monitor the financial health of restaurant operations and the company.
Key Responsibilities:
Financial Management: Oversee all financial operations, including budgeting, forecasting, financial reporting, and cash flow management.
Prepare accurate and timely financial statements (P&L, balance sheets, cash flow) for each location and the consolidated group.
Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and create dashboards to highlight trends.
Ensure compliance with GAAP and other regulatory standards.
Strategic Planning: Collaborate with senior management to develop financial strategies that align with business goals.
Accounting Oversight: Manage day-to-day accounting operations, ensuring accuracy and compliance with all regulatory and company standards.
Oversee reconciliations of bank accounts, credit card transactions, gift cards, due to/due from other franchisees and corporate stores.
Cost Control: Identify opportunities for cost savings and efficiency improvements without compromising guest satisfaction or operational excellence.
Develop processes to track and analyze food, beverage, and other direct costs by location.
Partner with procurement to optimize vendor pricing and reduce costs.
Perform menu profitability analyses, highlighting high-margin items and underperforming SKUs. Implement inventory reconciliation practices to minimize shrinkage and waste.
Data Analysis: Provide actionable insights through financial analysis, KPIs, and benchmarking, supporting data-driven decision-making.
Compliance: Ensure adherence to local laws, regulations, and company policies, including tax and audit requirements.
Team Leadership: Lead and mentor the finance team, fostering professional growth and ensuring high performance.
Collaborate with IT on system implementations/upgrades (e.g., R365, POS integrations).
Technology & Systems: Optimize financial systems and tools to streamline processes and improve accuracy.
Qualifications:
· Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field; CPA, CMA, or MBA preferred.
· 5+ years of experience in financial management, preferably within the hospitality or F&B industry.
· Strong understanding of hospitality-specific financial metrics and cost structures.
· Proven leadership and team management skills.
· Advance Excel skills
· Proficiency in financial software in various accounting software such as
o Marketman Inventory and Procurement system
o 7 Shifts
o QuickBooks online
o Paychex Payroll System
· Exceptional analytical, problem-solving, and organizational abilities.
· Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, growth-oriented environment.
· Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with various departments.
