Supply Chain Category and Operations Specialist

POSITION OVERVIEW
A rapidly growing, entrepreneurial technology company, Alarm.com is seeking a Supply Chain Category & Operations Specialist to join its supply chain team.  As a fast, growing company, Alarm.com is looking for an experienced candidate to own all facets of the supply chain in regard to one of our various hardware categories. This role supports all forecasting, buying, internal and external engagement, and supplier management, as well as overseeing the operations of the North American distribution and fulfillment center. In this role, you should have be a self-starter mindset, with the ability to work independently. Problem-solving skills and attention to detail are essential.


RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Operations Oversight:
    • Serve as the main operational contact for our North American distribution and fulfillment partner.
    • Lead cross-functional projects to identify and implement efficiency improvements and enhance the customer experience.
  • Continuous Improvement:
    • Identify, assess, and implement process improvements to enhance operational efficiency.
    • Conduct root cause analyses and implement corrective action plans as needed.
  • Supply and Demand Analysis:
    • Monitor and analyze supply and demand for specific product categories to minimize overstock and out-of-stock situations.
    • Establish and negotiate production priorities, managing resource constraints to achieve inventory goals.
  • Supplier Collaboration:
    • Coordinate with domestic and international suppliers on production plans, product portfolios, and pricing.
    • Act as the primary contact for all supply chain communications with designated suppliers.
  • Forecasting and Inventory Management:
    • Proactively gather data to make informed forecasting decisions, regularly analyzing outcomes to identify variances.
    • Collaborate with internal and external partners to refine the forecasting process.
    • Utilize analysis and expertise to make strategic inventory purchasing decisions.
  • Cross-functional Collaboration:
    • Work closely with Sales, Marketing, Customer Service, Legal, and Engineering teams to ensure alignment and address operational needs.
  • New Product Introduction and End-of-Sale Management:
    • Collaborate with suppliers on component lead times, minimum order quantities, and production ramp schedules.
    • Coordinate with product managers and marketing teams on product availability dates.
    • Develop forecasts and inventory purchase requirements for new products.
    • Manage product discontinuations to support marketing and product management strategies.
    • Implement strategies to minimize inventory obsolescence.
  • Quality and Performance Monitoring:
    • Track and analyze Return Material Authorization (RMA) data to improve quality processes and reduce RMA rates for assigned product categories.
    • Develop and update benchmarks and metrics for performance management, sharing scorecards with partners and the executive team.
  • Compliance and Risk Management:
    • Ensure operational processes adhere to inventory and SOX compliance activities.

REQUIREMENTS

  • BS/BA in Supply Chain, Business Analytics, Mathematics or a related field
  • 4-6 years of experience in Supply Chain, Logistics, or similar role
  • Ability to work outside of standard business hours with overseas stakeholders as needed
  • Desire and aptitude to build long term relationships with partners; ability to travel in support of these relationships (frequent Domestic travel, occasional international)
  • Analytical mindset with a problem-solving aptitude
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Self-starter who is able to operate independently
  • Team player with a positive attitude and high degree of flexibility
  • Working knowledge of MS Office, with strong Excel skills
  • Strong organizational skills and experience with project management a plus
  • Experience with MicroStrategy and Avercast a plus
  • Experience with international shipping a plus
