AHRC NYC is looking to hire a Full-Time  Concrete Polishing Skills Instructor for their Queens Employment Business Services program.

Location: Long Island City, NY
Job Type: Full-Time

Job Overview:
Are you passionate about concrete polishing and eager to share your expertise with the next generation of skilled professionals? We are looking for a knowledgeable and experienced Concrete Polishing Skills Instructor to join our team. This is an exciting opportunity to teach, mentor, and shape the future of workers in the construction and flooring industry.

In this role, you will be responsible for providing hands-on training in concrete polishing techniques, equipment usage, and safety practices. You will work with a diverse group of youth ages 16-24, with barriers to employment preparing them to enter the workforce with the skills necessary to succeed in this high-demand field.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Instruct students in concrete polishing techniques, from surface preparation to finishing.
  • Teach the safe and proper use of tools and equipment, including grinders, polishers, and dust collection systems.
  • Assist, or lead, teaching the OSHA 10 course provided alongside the concrete training.
  • Develop and deliver course materials, ensuring they are up-to-date and relevant to industry standards.
  • Provide hands-on training, demonstrating both basic and advanced concrete polishing methods.
  • Assess students' progress through practical demonstrations and written evaluations.
  • Foster a safe learning environment by promoting best practices for safety, health, and environmental regulations.
  • Maintain accurate records of student progress, attendance, and completion.
  • Offer mentorship and guidance to students, helping them overcome challenges and succeed in their careers.
  • Stay updated on industry trends and emerging techniques to ensure that the training program remains cutting-edge.

Qualifications

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience in concrete polishing, including hands-on experience with equipment and techniques.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience working in the concrete or flooring industry, with a focus on polishing.
  • Previous teaching or training experience is preferred but not required.
  • OSHA 10 certified and/or trainer certification is a plus but not required.
  • Union experience is welcomed and appreciated, especially in teaching our participants about the benefits of union enrollment.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and motivate students.
  • In-depth knowledge of concrete and flooring systems, including surface preparation, polishing, and finishing.
  • Certification or training in concrete polishing is a plus.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and resolve issues with equipment or student performance.
  • A passion for teaching and a commitment to helping others succeed.
  • A focus on safety, quality, and industry standards.
  • Ability to work well in a team environment.
