SMT Technician, Semiconductors (Starlink)

SMT TECHNICIAN, SEMICONDUCTORS (STARLINK)

One of the most ambitious missions that SpaceX has undertaken to date, the Starlink satellite constellation is our solution to providing reliable internet to the entire world. In true SpaceX fashion, Starlink is taking the next step in vertical integration by bringing integrated circuit packaging and assembly in-house for development and manufacturing. You will work closely with IC packaging engineers, equipment manufacturers and leadership.

The success of Starlink depends on the quality, reliability, cost, manufacturability, throughput, and security of the products that you deliver. RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Manufacturing operations and processing of microelectronic products
  • Operation of semiconductor and packaging equipment in cleanroom environment
  • Product handling using best cleanroom practices
  • Support production operations and standard operation procedures
  • Identify continuous improvement opportunities for yield, performance, and cost

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High school diploma or equivalency certificate
  • 1+ years of professional experience in a hands-on manufacturing environment; or bachelor's degree in an engineering, math or science discipline

PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • 3+ years of hands-on equipment experience in microelectronics packaging cleanroom
  • 3+ years of experience working on surface mount technology (SMT), Component Pick & Place, Automated Optical Inspection, Reflow Ovens & X-Ray equipment
  • Bachelor's degree in an engineering, math or science discipline

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must be willing to work all shifts, overtime and weekends as needed. Estimated shift time is 1st Shift: 8:00 AM - 6:30 PM
  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 25 lbs
  • Repetitive assembly operations, grasping, standing, lifting, bending, pulling, pushing, stooping, stretching, and carrying are generally required to perform the functions of this position
  • Must be able to distinguish colors as required

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:

Pay range:    
SMT Technician/Level 1: $22.00 - $24.50/hour
SMT Technician/Level 2: $24.00 - $29.00/hour
SMT Technician/Level 3: $27.50 - $35.00/hour   

Your actual level and base salary will be determined on a case-by-case basis and may vary based on the following considerations: job-related knowledge and skills, education, and experience.

Base salary is just one part of your total rewards package at SpaceX. You may also be eligible for long-term incentives, in the form of company stock, stock options, or long-term cash awards, as well as potential discretionary bonuses and the ability to purchase additional stock at a discount through an Employee Stock Purchase Plan. You will also receive access to comprehensive medical, vision, and dental coverage, access to a 401(k) retirement plan, short & long-term disability insurance, life insurance, paid parental leave, and various other discounts and perks. You may also accrue 3 weeks of paid vacation & will be eligible for 10 or more paid holidays per year.
