Head of Cardiology

The Schwarzman Animal Medical Center in New York City seeks a board-certified (ACVIM or ECVIM) or board-eligible cardiologist to lead our practice and work with administration to further expand and grow AMC’s cardiology services. They will help assure excellence in postgraduate teaching and training, oversee our ACVIM cardiology residency training program, and encourage clinical investigation. They will also ensure outstanding client experience and build relationships with the veterinary community. DVM or equivalent degree is required. This is an ideal opportunity for an experienced DVM in cardiology looking to take his/her career to the next level and work in a newly constructed, state-of-the-art facility.

Clinical and/or basic science research experience is preferred. Opportunities for collaborative research exist both at AMC as well as with the Cornell University College of Veterinary Medicine, Weill Cornell Medical School, and NYU. AMC is actively looking to increase its research capabilities over the coming years.

The Cardiology Service includes experienced, licensed veterinary technicians (LVTs), two ACVIM cardiology diplomates, two cardiology residents, a cardiology specialty intern, and a rotating intern. Equipment includes a GE Vivid 9 ultrasound system with 4 echo-pac stations for post-processing and report writing, a mobile GE echo machine with TEE probe, Holter recorders, Biotronik and Medtronic pacemaker interrogators, and other equipment. Cardiac catheterizations are performed in our state-of-the-art interventional radiology catheterization laboratory. Our 24/7 ICU is equipped with telemetry. A new, world-class facility is due to open in early 2025, along with a new Cardiology Suite for direct patient care.

AMC has many clinical resources. Diagnostic imaging services are provided 7 days per week. Computed tomography and magnetic resonance imaging are available on-site. A commercial diagnostic laboratory housed within AMC provides 7-day per week service and an on-site clinical pathologist.

We are proud of our great team of veterinarians who offer a wide range of specialties, including anatomic pathology, anesthesiology, cardiology, dentistry, dermatology, diagnostic imaging, emergency and critical care, exotic pet medicine, internal medicine (with dialysis), interventional radiology and endoscopy, neurology, oncology, ophthalmology, radiation oncology, rehabilitation and integrative medicine, soft tissue and orthopedic surgery, and surgical oncology. We also have a full-time staff social worker.
