About This Role 

The Senior Clinical Applications Specialist, Physics position provides an opportunity to educate oncology professionals on efficient and effective use of the RefleXion system. This position will involve a wide range of tasks, from participating in curriculum design and development of presentation materials to delivering training at our RefleXion Learning Center and customer sites.  This role will also require customer site go-live training activities and additional customer refresher training when necessary or requested.   

What You Will Be Doing 

  • Provide clinical instruction in radiation therapy physics using the RefleXion system
  • Work with cross-functional teams to create training materials (PowerPoints, Quick Reference Guides, etc.) for both Oncology Customers (Radiation Oncologists, Medical Physicists, Dosimetrists, Nuclear Medicine Technologists, and Radiation Therapists) and employee training programs
  • Lead, facilitate and/or serve as faculty at customer trainings in our Learning Center in Hayward, CA, virtually, and at the customer site
  • Lead, facilitate and/or serve as faculty at employee training programs in our Learning Center in Hayward, CA
  • Perform and support beam data collection for commissioning of the X1 system.
  • Assist in Acceptance testing and commissioning of RefleXion system
  • Perform individual treatment planning, calculations and plan and QA reviews for physics specific components
  • Perform static and motion experiments with an in-depth analysis to include use of third-party devices
  • Provide expertise in quality assurance checks and dosimetry reviews at customer sites and at the Learning Center
  • Assist with calibration of dose and radiation equipment
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, local and organizational regulations for radiation safety with use of ionizing radiation as well as radioactive tracer
  • Provide physics support and consultation to radiation oncology personnel and radiation oncologists with regard to patient care and treatment
  • Enhance training materials periodically by generating new training aids such as Quick Guides, e-learnings, etc. with implementation of personalized learning techniques and methodologies to provide continuous learning opportunities for the customers
  • Provide first-line of response support and training to customers
  • Provide support to our sales efforts at customer trade shows or marketing events
  • Partner with our engineering and product teams to enhance product features and usability
  • Participate in new and upgrade product release testing
  • Engage in continuous learning within radiation oncology and be known as a reliable, trusted resource of accurate and up to date medical and scientific knowledge
  • Develop and maintain training curriculum to enable customer efficiencies that drive ‘best of’ and ‘optimized’ use of the RefleXion system
  • Other duties as assigned

Where You Will Do This Job 

  • Remote - This position will allow the successful candidate to work a primarily remote schedule. They must be based in the Central or Eastern region of the US and may be required to visit RefleXion customers to perform training in person and come into the RefleXion office in Hayward for meetings and other events as needed.

What We Need 

  • Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Physics, Radiologic Sciences or related discipline or commensurate education and professional experience
  • 5+ years of clinical experience in medical physics
  • 2+ years commercial experience in clinical applications training and supporting customers
  • Valid certification in radiology from the American Board of Radiology (ABR), American Board of Medical Physics (AMBP), or equivalent
  • Experience in Radiation Oncology as a Medical Physicist performing Acceptance Testing and QA procedures
  • Ability to travel up to 50%
  • Demonstrated ability to gather content, create training presentations & present in formal training situations
  • A passion for bringing new technology to customers through engaging training
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a diverse team including physicists, scientists, and engineers
  • Intermediate knowledge of business tools such as Microsoft Office Suite
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, at a variety of technical levels
  • Meets all Vendor Credentialing requirements necessary to gain client site access
  • Ability to work and solve problems independently, and perform thorough, in depth analyses
  • Ability to analyze available literature, task group reports, etc.
  • Excellent people skills and troubleshooting capabilities required
  • Ability to interact with customers and prospects in a professional timely manner while providing support and training

Ways To Stand Out 

  • Master's degree in Physics or related discipline preferred
  • Experience with a variety of treatment machines as well as treatment planning systems is a "plus"
  • Experience in a commercial start-up ideal
  • Command of adult learning theory, classroom education, and digital training preferred

The pay range for this role is $95,000 - $160,000 annually.   Actual compensation packages are based on several factors that are unique to each candidate, including but not limited to skill set, depth of experience, certifications, and specific work location. This may be different in other locations due to differences in the cost of labor. The total compensation package for this position may also include bonus, stock, benefits and/or other applicable variable compensation.
