What We're Looking For
We are looking for a motivated Director, Accounting to build a world class accounting function at Perchwell. This is an opportunity to play a key role across all things revenue & equity accounting, helping to build the function for a rapidly growing startup.
The ideal candidate is a CPA with 6-10+ years of accounting experience, including work with a Big 4 and experience with scaling startups. You drive crossfunctional partnerships and are a skilled player/coach and team leader. Successful candidates are proactive, adaptable, customer-focused, solution-minded, detail-oriented, and effective communicators. What You’ll Do
Own the accounting function at Perchwell
Drive our Month End Close (MEC), quarterly, and year-end close processes and establish an accounting foundation to prepare for audit readiness
Evaluate, ideate & implement mission critical systems and automation improvements to set the foundation for business scale
Write technical memos and interpret guidelines on best in class accounting practices
Ensure timely and accurate financial statements reporting
Define optimal balance of in-house accounting and 3rd party support within first 90 days
Ensure detailed accounting documentation is prepared and maintained in support of company policies and procedures
Streamline accounting operations in partnering with the Sales & Customer Success teams to align with business goals
Oversee domestic and international tax preparation, satisfying obligations for franchise, payroll, sales and business taxes
Optimize spend processes, including ongoing vendor contract review
Required for the Role
SaaS accounting experience with 6-10 years in a high-growth tech startup environment
Experience with a Big 4 accounting firm
Certified Public Accountant (CPA)
Experienced in driving audits
Proficient in Excel, Powerpoint, Google Workspace, Quickbooks, Bill.com, and Avalara
Metrics-driven and focused on impactful results
Strong understanding of and empathy for internal and external stakeholders and customers
Team player who enjoys working cross functionally
Self-starter who is wildly curious, comfortable with ambiguity, comfortable leading projects, and encourages a growth mindset.
In this role, you’ll work out of our New York City Office in Soho/Manhattan 4 days/week.

$140-170K base salary + equity + benefits
