Operations Manager

About Oceans

At Oceans, we believe that talent knows no boundaries. That’s why we connect the best and brightest talent with career-defining opportunities that challenge, inspire, and accelerate their career growth. Our community, whom we call Divers, don’t just work—they dive deep, solve complex challenges, and make a real impact. And in doing so, they don’t just grow their own careers; they help visionary leaders around the world turn bold ideas into reality.

The role of a Manager - Operations is both a strategic and tactical one.  As a consultative leader, they bridge the gap between performance and purpose—aligning Divers with Oceans’ mission, vision, and culture while empowering them to grow into the best versions of themselves.

This role involves providing guidance in planning, issue resolution, program development, and staff development to enhance Diver engagement and retention.

The Manager - Operations will oversee 80-100 client-facing Divers, being their direct manager and be responsible for both their work product and growth at Oceans. You’ll also be their voice in key discussions, ensuring their experiences are heard and helping us in crafting solutions that address their needs.

Roles Specifications

This is a hybrid role, and Manager - Operations are expected to work in-person approximately 1-2 days a week. During the offer process, we’ll share more information about our benefits and compensation philosophy, while providing an opportunity to update our understanding of both market and individual factors.

Accountability

As a Manager - Operations, you'll focus on four key areas, with your success measured by your ability to minimize Diver-related client churn and ensure Diver retention. Here’s how you’ll make an impact:

Diver Experience and Engagement:

  • Conduct fortnightly check-ins to understand Diver satisfaction and identify additional needs they may have.
  • Create and maintain a framework for Diver engagement and retention, including regular feedback loops and effective issue resolution.
  • Address Diver grievances and provide recommendations for resolution.
  • Oversee time-off requests and ensure smooth operational execution for Divers.

Performance Management:

  • Ongoing management of any dissatisfaction, alongside Training, Integration, and Client Success.
  • Cultivate a high-performance culture by ensuring timely performance reviews, addressing challenges, and celebrating top performers.
  • Collaborate with Client Success and Delivery Management teams to ensure smooth client integration, transitions, and alignment with KPIs, contributing to Oceans' client NPS.

Career Development:

  • Partner with HR and Training to define and implement a quarterly Training Needs Analysis.
  • Analyze and suggest improvements to ensure mid-career training is impactful and delivers high-quality candidates.
  • Ensure the infrastructure supports both Diver satisfaction and growth.
  • Act as the Diver’s voice in our internal development process, ensuring their growth needs are always a priority.

Colleagues

Your primary partners will be the Divers themselves, working alongside them to ensure their success. Internally, you’ll partner closely with our Training, HR, and Integration teams to help our clients unlock the full potential of the Oceans talent network. In certain instances you will also need to work with our Sales team in order to help grow the client account.

As you work cross-functionally, you’ll report directly to the  Head of Diver Success at Oceans.

At Oceans, we believe in T-shaped people—those who bring deep expertise in one area, paired with broad curiosity and interests. As a Manager - Operations, your vertical focus will be on understanding the needs of both Divers and clients, ensuring these needs are clearly addressed and communicated to our internal teams, consistently. Your horizontal focus will span an understanding of how businesses function, grow, and develop talent, as well as how global talent plays a key role in that growth. Prior experience working with global talent, business operations, and client-facing roles will be a valuable asset.

Diversity of experience is core to Oceans. You are expected to work inclusively with individuals from a variety of backgrounds, ensuring that both personal and collective dignity are supported.

The interview process will give you the opportunity to showcase your skills in the following areas:

  • Leading through People: Have you successfully influenced and guided a team of at least 10 members toward a shared goal?
  • Growth Mindset: How successful have you been in transforming (as opposed to transacting) strategy into execution?
  • Planning and Prioritization:
    • How do you define goals, break down complex tasks, and assess their importance and urgency to create realistic timelines?
    • How do you allocate resources, anticipate challenges, monitor progress, and communicate changes to ensure successful project completion?
  • Business Acumen: Are you aware of key business issues? How have you applied that knowledge and confidence to make informed decisions based on past experiences?
  • Collaboration & Stakeholder Management: Do internal stakeholders feel that you understand their work and know how to collaborate effectively, including where you will take ownership and where you will work together?

At Oceans, we build remote teams that connect the world’s top 1% of talent with visionary leaders. With us, you’re not just doing a job—you’re redefining your career with opportunities that are designed to unlock your potential. We welcome the chance to discuss the complementary parts of our business during your interview process and encourage questions about where we are and where we are going.

  • Unique lucrative opportunity to work with global start ups that could 10x your career.
  • Fully Remote work.
  • Competitive pay and always paid in USD.
