As the Head of Growth Engineering, you will lead a dynamic and impactful team focused on scaling Nextdoor’s user base and engagement. Growth is at the heart of Nextdoor’s mission to connect neighbors and build stronger communities. Your team will own the strategy and execution of engineering solutions aimed at driving top-of-funnel user growth, retention, SEO, and platform engagement.

This is a critical leadership role where you will collaborate with cross-functional partners, including Product, Design, and Data, to ideate, prioritize, and deliver growth initiatives. Your contributions will directly influence the success of our user growth funnel and the ongoing evolution of our platform.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Defining Growth Strategies: Collaborate with Product to determine the highest-impact growth levers across Retention, SEO, and top-of-funnel user acquisition, and drive execution
  • Scaling Team Culture: Foster a data-driven, high-velocity culture of experimentation, iteration, and learning within the growth engineering team
  • Technical Leadership: Provide technical direction and architectural oversight, ensuring scalable, maintainable solutions align with growth objectives
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner closely with Product, Design, Data Science, and Marketing teams to deliver cohesive, impactful growth initiatives
  • Organizational Development: Recruit, build, and mentor a high-performing engineering team, promoting a culture of excellence, accountability, and innovation
  • Strategic Vision: Articulate and execute a long-term vision for engineering systems supporting growth, ensuring incremental and measurable progress
  • Driving Results: Build ownership and accountability within the team, celebrating successes and learning from experiments

What You’ll Bring To The Team

  • Experience: 3+ years of leadership experience managing organizations of 30+ people, with a proven track record of delivering growth for consumer-facing platforms
  • Technical Expertise: Strong engineering background with the ability to guide architectural priorities and balance technical innovation with delivery milestones
  • Collaborative Leadership: Empathy-driven, strategic leadership with a focus on fostering open communication and constructive feedback
  • Data-Driven Mindset: Proficiency in leveraging data to drive decision-making, measure success, and iterate effectively
  • Customer Obsession: Deep commitment to understanding and addressing user needs through thoughtful engineering solutions
  • Execution Excellence: Demonstrated ability to prioritize, plan, and deliver high-quality results at scale

Rewards

Compensation, benefits, perks, and recognition programs at Nextdoor come together to create one overall rewards package.

The starting salary for this role is expected to range from $325,000 to $400,000 on an annualized basis, or potentially greater in the event that your 'level' of proficiency exceeds the level expected for the role. Compensation may also vary by geography.

We also expect to award a meaningful equity grant for this role. With equal quarterly vesting, your first vest date would be within the first 3 months of your start date.

Overall, total compensation will vary depending on your relevant skills, experience, and qualifications.
