Research Associate I/II, Analytical Development

The Research Associate will support the development of analytical assays related to AAV-based gene therapy programs. This includes assisting in performing cell-based and molecular assays (e.g., qPCR/ddPCR). This role will also assist in supporting the daily operation and organization of the research laboratory. This role requires strong collaboration skills, the ability to multitask, and a willingness to thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.


Primary Responsibilities
  • Understands and interprets research protocols and procedures.  
  • Communicating with senior scientists to understand challenges and potential solutions. 
  • Perform testing methodologies – including assays such as digital PCR, ELISA, and in vitroanalytical assays for AAV gene therapy vectors. 
  • Identify risks in assay performance, communicate them effectively, and support mitigation efforts. 
  • Maintain cell lines and manage entire tissue culture process. 
  • Collaboration across teams to collect, analyze, document and report data. 
  • Contributing to organize in-house capabilities in analytical development for viral vectors. 
  • Aid in collaborations with colleagues to support day-to-day operations. 
  • Perform routine laboratory activities such as stocking laboratory, preparing media and reagents, and inventory maintenance. 
  • Participates in regular team meetings (both in-person and via Teams). 


Required Skills & Qualifications
  • BS with 0 – 3 years of experience in chemistry, biochemistry, life sciences, pharmaceutical sciences, chemical engineering, or a related field.
  • Hands-on experience with cell and gene therapy products is highly desirable.
  • Familiarity with analytical assay development, including molecular and cell-based assays (e.g., qPCR/ddPCR). 
  • Basic understanding of FDA regulations, cGMPs, ICH guidelines, and QbD principles is a plus.
  • Proficiency in using electronic laboratory notebooks (e.g., Benchling) for documentation, data analysis, and collaboration. 
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • A proactive, team-oriented attitude and excellent communication skills. 


$65,000 - $85,000 a year
Base salary dependent on qualifications and overall experience.
