Marketing and Communication Specialist

The Communications and Marketing Specialist supports the strategic communication and marketing efforts of the Idaho College of Osteopathic Medicine by developing and executing content across multiple platforms. This role is key to promoting the college’s mission, programs, research, events, alumni engagement, and student success stories to both internal and external audiences. 

This position plays a critical role in shaping and executing the communications strategy for student recruitment and focuses on developing compelling content, campaigns, and digital experiences that engage prospective students. 

The position will assist with leading admissions-focused communications, broader institutional communications and marketing initiatives, and major school events, ensuring consistent messaging and brand alignment across all platforms.

RESPONSIBILITIES: 

• Create and manage compelling written, visual, and multimedia content for print, web, email, and social media channels.
• Contribute to the planning, promotion, and execution of major institutional events such as Match Day, White Coat Ceremony, and Commencement.
• Provide communications support for strategic initiatives that elevate the school’s visibility and enhance student engagement.
• Assist in the management of the college website, ensuring content is accurate, current, and engaging.
• Develop and implement annual communications and marketing plans to support recruitment and admissions goals for the college’s DO and other academic programs.
• Produce engaging content tailored to prospective students – including emails, newsletters, brochures, social media posts, website copy, digital ads, and video scripts.
• Support virtual and in-person admissions events with promotional materials, branded assets, and post-event communications.
• Collaborate with current students, alumni, faculty, and Admissions leadership to highlight compelling stories that reflect the mission and values of the school.
• Track performance of marketing campaigns, email engagement, and website traffic; provide insights to refine strategies.
• Performs other related duties, as assigned. 


• Bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing, journalism, public relations, or a related field.
• Minimum of three (3) years of professional experience in communications or marketing, preferably in higher education, healthcare.
• Exceptional writing, editing, and storytelling skills across platforms and formats.
• Experience with digital marketing tools such as email platforms (i.e. Slate, Mailchimp), social media, and CMS/web editing systems.
• Strong organizational and project management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
• A collaborative spirit and proactive approach to problem-solving.
• Some evening and weekend availability will be required, if events arise.

SKILLS & ABILITIES:

• Familiarity with osteopathic medical education, the admissions lifecycle, and/or student recruitment communications.
• Experience working in medical education or academic healthcare settings.
• Basic graphic design skills.
• Working knowledge of video production and storytelling principles.
