Ghost Street is a design-led digital product studio based in Tāmaki Makaurau, Auckland, New Zealand. We are seeking a Business and Sales Manager to drive client growth, oversee financial operations, and support efficient project management within our studio. This role is integral to ensuring both the commercial success of the business and the satisfaction of our clients.
We are open for applicants through Dec and Jan with interviews to take place in January - role commencing Feb/March.
The Role
This is a senior role focused on business growth, client relationship management, and operational oversight. You’ll play a pivotal role in shaping sales strategies, maintaining financial health, and supporting the delivery team in achieving project goals.
Key Responsibilities:
Sales and Business Development
- New Business Development: Identify and pursue opportunities to secure new clients and projects.
- Client Engagements: Build and maintain strong relationships with existing clients, acting as a trusted partner for their digital needs.
- Partnerships and Referrals: Develop strategic alliances and leverage referrals to drive growth.
- Client Development: Strengthen client accounts by identifying upselling or service expansion opportunities.
- Lead Nurturing: Manage the sales funnel, ensuring consistent communication and follow-up with prospects.
- Sales Strategy: Define and refine strategies to meet sales objectives and align with Ghost Street’s growth vision.
- Acquisition: Actively seek and secure new business opportunities to expand the studio's portfolio.
Financial Oversight
- P&L and Balance Sheets: Regularly review and analyse key financial statements to monitor the studio’s financial health
- GST and AIM Tax Returns: Oversee external resource to ensure accurate and timely submissions to meet compliance obligations.
- Reconciliation: Ensure external resource manages account with up-to-date and accurate through regular reviews.
- Financial Projections and Forecasting: Develop revenue and expense forecasts to inform strategic planning.
- Payroll: Oversee external resource for employee salary disbursements and benefits administration.
- Payments: Oversee external resource to manage the timely and accurate processing of payments to vendors and partners.
Operations and Strategy
- Operational Policy Development: Create and refine policies that enhance efficiency and team productivity.
- Strategic Planning: Develop and implement short- and long-term strategies for studio growth.
- Business Forecasting: Monitor trends to ensure the studio is equipped with the right resources and capabilities.
- Operational Analysis: Evaluate current processes and identify opportunities for improvement.
- Company OKRs: Set and align organisational goals with actionable and measurable outcomes.
- System Implementation: Introduce and manage tools that drive operational effectiveness.
Project and Account Management Support
- Oversight and Guidance: Provide high-level support to project manager / team, ensuring everyone has the resources and direction needed for success.
- Client Alignment: Work closely with project manager / team to maintain alignment between client expectations and project delivery.
Leadership
- Advising the Board: Provide insights and recommendations on sales performance, client relationships, and financial health.
- Board Meeting Participation: Attend board meetings, presenting updates on business development, financial performance, and operational priorities.
- Executive Review Sessions: Organise and participate in leadership reviews to align on strategic goals and challenges.
- Executive and Board Packs: Develop detailed packs summarising sales pipelines, financial reports, and strategic recommendations for board and executive review.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Act as a bridge between sales, delivery, and finance teams to ensure seamless communication and alignment across functions.
About You
Must haves:
- You are a strategic thinker with a proven track record in sales and client relationship management.
- You have experience managing financial processes and are confident working with key financial tools and statements.
- You thrive in a collaborative environment and can navigate complex client needs while balancing business goals.
- You are proactive, solutions-driven, and committed to driving the studio’s growth.
- You are comfortable with tools such as Xero, Fathom, or similar platforms for financial forecasting and management.
- You have 2+ years experience across business development, sales and/or business leadership
- You enjoy working across diverse projects and teams, with a focus on fostering strong client and team relationships.
It would be advantageous if:
- You have previous experience in the tech/digital sector
- You have 5+ years experience across business development, sales and/or business leadership
- You have project management experience
- You have product management experience
- You are creative minded and are passionate about user experience design
- You have a tertiary degree in a related field e.g Business Administration or a Bachelor of Commerce, or Sales and Marketing.
