Partnerships for Parks is a joint program of New York City Parks and City Parks Foundation (CPF). Partnerships for Parks (PfP) supports and champions a growing network of leaders caring and advocating for neighborhood parks and green spaces. We equip people, organizations and government with the skills and tools needed to ensure these spaces are dynamic community assets.
Partnerships’ Volunteer Program promotes involvement in parks and connects interested individuals, businesses, and organizations to volunteer opportunities in NYC Parks. The Volunteer Program promotes and manages volunteer opportunities in parks for individuals, groups, and corporations; recognizes the accomplishments of volunteers through events and other initiatives; and works to expand the number of park volunteers citywide.
Major Responsibilities
- Under general direction, with wide latitude for independent initiative and judgment, manage the non-profit portfolio of the It’s My Park program
- Manage site selection, logistics, supplies, budgets, communications, evaluations, tracking, and on-site staffing for episodic volunteer projects with non-profit organizations, civic associations, and schools in parks throughout the five boroughs.
- Coordinate the selection, design and purchasing of giveaways and promotional materials for the It’s My Park program.
- Establish and enhance volunteer opportunities for youth and other priority populations as determined by PfP leadership.
- Assist with the creation and implementation of training for staff and community groups on how to lead volunteer projects
- Manage a team including permanent and seasonal employees
- Connect interested individuals, businesses, and organizations to volunteer and stewardship opportunities throughout the Parks Department as needed
- Coordinate programming and staffing support with PfP Corporate program
- In coordination with program director, establish program goals and objectives, project outcomes, and conduct program evaluation to advance and improve program deliverables
- Develop and maintain processes and protocols to operationalize program deliverable; distribute standard operating procedures to staff and volunteers
- Track information about volunteer projects and groups through Salesforce and other applications; create and share reports and presentations
- Coordinate with Communications staff to promote volunteer opportunities as needed
- Support priority programs, events, and projects as directed.

1. A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college and two years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to the duties described above; or
2. High school graduation or equivalent and six years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to the duties as described above; or
3. Education and/or experience which is equivalent to "1" or "2" above. However, all candidates must have at least one year of experience as described in "1" above.
