About the Role

Braven is seeking Part-Time Substitute Leadership Coaches (LCs) to facilitate Braven’s Accelerator Learning Labs when there are LC absences. A Substitute LC will lead a two-hour virtual class for a cohort of 5-8 Fellows (mostly first-generation, low-income, and underrepresented college students) using an established curriculum. In this role, you will gain teaching and facilitation experience while impacting the lives of hundreds of college students.

Training will be provided.

What You’ll Do

  • Facilitate virtual Accelerator Learning Labs as a substitute for absent LCs 
  • Prepare to facilitate Braven content by meeting with the Braven team and practicing independently
  • Attend all LC trainings (~6 total training hours) to be equipped with the knowledge and skills to facilitate Learning Labs and work with Fellows effectively

Minimum Qualifications

  • At least 2 years of experience with teaching, facilitation, and/or public speaking

Preferred Qualifications

  • Exceptional teaching, facilitation, and/or public speaking skills 
  • Familiarity with Zoom and facilitating in a virtual environment
  • Strong organization and time management skills
  • Eagerness to learn and openness to feedback
  • Exemplification of Braven’s core values
  • Experience that has informed your belief in Braven’s mission and has prepared you to work with, or for, Braven’s student Fellow population

  • Evening and weekend work required

Availability

You must be consistently available during at least three of the following times per week to facilitate virtual Learning Labs with the highest-need times in bold. Our spring semester runs from roughly mid-January to mid-May. When possible, we will develop an on-call schedule for substitute opportunities one week in advance.

Compensation

This is a part-time temporary, non-exempt, position paid at an hourly rate of $25 per hour. The anticipated hours per week for this role are around 10 hours per week if you support at least three Learning Labs.
