Job Description

AHRC NYC is seeking to hire a Direct Support Professional (DSP) for their Bronx Day Program. In this role, you will focus on enhancing participants' employability by developing their work behaviors and employment skills, fostering independence, and supporting personal growth.

Job TypeFull Time

ScheduleMonday to Friday, 7:30am-3:30pm (Occasional weekends and overtime available to support supplemental program until 5:00 PM)

Pay Rate: $18.10 per hour 

Responsibilities:

  • Assist participants in learning and developing social, daily living, and work-related skills.
  • Develop and expand meaningful community opportunities.
  • Transport participants to and from their residences, as well as to appointments, social outings, and other scheduled activities.

  • Complete and maintain daily progress reports.
  • Occasionally serve as a job coach, providing guidance and support in real-world work settings.

Qualifications

  • Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities or in a related field preferred.
  • Valid driver’s license Required
  • Reasonable flexibility in work hours and ability to respond to the scheduling needs of the individual.
  • Experience working with or mentoring people to improve employment skills a plus
  • Ability to communicate both orally and in written form in English.
  • Ability to establish and maintain a working relationship with program participants, families, staff and community agencies.
  • Understanding of Person Centered Planning.
  • High School diploma or GED is required.
