Washington State Licensed Inpatient Coder

Job Summary

A company is looking for an Inpatient Hospital Coder.

Key Responsibilities

• Collect and code ICD-10 diagnosis and PCS procedural codes based on inpatient coding guidelines
• Abstract data from various inpatient hospital case types and resolve coding validation and claim edits
• Utilize hospital encoding systems and resources for effective data presentation and interpretation

Required Qualifications

• Associate degree or two years of college coursework in Health Information Management (HIM) or equivalent work experience
• Minimum of 1 year inpatient facility coding experience or 3 years outpatient facility coding experience with at least 1 year in an acute care pediatric setting
• Completion of a PCS training program
• AHIMA - CCS or RHIT/RHIA or AAPC - CIC or CPC/COC with eligibility to obtain CCS or CIC within 6 months of hire
• Preferred: CCS or CIC at time of hire and experience in a pediatric acute care setting
