Job Description

Visa is heavily investing in its Global Product Design Team to help support its growing digital product line. Visa Global Product Design is comprised of five specializations: Design, Research & Accessibility, Design Engineering, Design Operations and Content Creation & Design Strategy. Design is looking for an intern to join our team.

In this role, you will expand your knowledge of UX principles and collaborate with a team of experienced designers. The Design Intern will contribute to usable, accessible and engaging user experiences for our Security and Identity products.

Role responsibilities include:

  • Contribute to design decisions based on a thorough understanding of contemporary user-centered design principles
  • Be an advocate for our users
  • Gain experience in capturing requirements, designing flows, wireframes, testable prototypes and fully fleshed out designs
  • Improve problem-solving skills, customer service and interpersonal skills

We are hiring for the Visa Experience Design Intern in the Bay Area; assigments may be placed in our Foster City or San Francisco offices. 

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications

  • Pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree in Human Factors, Design, Psychology, Sociology or related field, graduating in December 2025 or later

Preferred Qualifications

  • Some experience designing high-fidelity mockups and prototypes using Figma, Sketch or other industry tools
  • Understanding of basic interaction design principles
  • Familiarity with Accessibility (508/WCAG) a plus
  • Motion design skills are a plus
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, including thorough and methodical attention to detail
  • Fully fluent in English and able to understand and be easily understood in English
  • Ability to communicate concepts and recommendations confidently to a variety of audiences
  • Ability to self-manage time and work independently or as part of a team
  • An online portfolio that demonstrates strong product and ecosystem thinking

Additional Information

U.S. APPLICANTS ONLY: The estimated salary for a new hire into this position is $27/HR to $30/HR USD which may include potential sales incentive payments (if applicable).  Salary may vary depending on job-related factors which may include knowledge, skills, experience, and location. In addition, this position may be eligible for bonus and equity.  Visa has a comprehensive benefits package for which this position may be eligible that includes Medical, Dental, Vision, 401 (k), FSA/HSA, Life Insurance, Paid Time Off, and Wellness Program. 

Work Authorization: Visa will not sponsor applicants for work visas in connection with this position. Future sponsorship will not be considered.

Work Hours: Varies upon the needs of the department.

This is a hybrid position: Hybrid employees can alternate time between both remote and office. Employees in hybrid roles are expected to work from the office 2-3 set days a week (determined by leadership/site), with a general guidepost of being in the office 50% or more of the time based on business needs. 

Travel Requirements: This position requires travel 5-10% of the time.

Mental/Physical Requirements: This position will be performed in an office setting.  The position will require the incumbent to sit and stand at a desk, communicate in person and by telephone, frequently operate standard office equipment, such as telephones and computers.
