Mapping & Data Analyst

As a Mapping & Data Analyst at Via, you will be managing the mapping layers, data collection and validation process that is the backbone of Via's navigational tools. Your work directly impacts our rider, driver and operator experience, and is the difference between a driver making the right turn or a rider receiving an accurate ETA.  Hundreds of cities and transportation agencies around the world trust our maps to get their riders from point A to point B smoothly and efficiently.
 
What You'll Do:
  • You will help to manage the data layers that power Via's mapping suite. You will use proprietary tools and methods to edit, validate and ship data into our production maps on a daily basis.
  • You will oversee the end-to-end delivery of our maps to new customers
  • You will work to maintain & improve our existing maps
  • You will work with our Algorithm and Routing engineers to build for scale by improving tools and automating tasks
Who You Are:
  • You have a passion for maps, public transportation and cities, and an interest in turning data into real world experiences for our customers 
  • You are comfortable dealing with large data sets, and have an eagerness to learn new data skills
  • You take are independent learner and bring a hands-on, pragmatic attitude to your work.
  • You have exceptional attention to detail, and an ability to communicate those details to other collaborators.
  • You have up to 3 years of experience working with GIS systems, mapping data, Python and/or general cartography tools 
Compensation and Benefits:
  • Final salary will be determined by the candidate’s experience, knowledge, and skills. Salary reflected does not include equity or variable pay, where applicable
  • Salary Range: $65,000-$75,000
