Insurance Authorization Specialist

We are seeking a detail-oriented Insurance Authorizations Specialist to join our team in Sanford, United States. In this role, you will be responsible for managing and processing insurance authorizations, verifying coverage, and ensuring compliance with insurance requirements for medical procedures and treatments.

• Process and obtain prior authorizations for outpatient Physical and Occupational therapy treatment. 
• Verify insurance coverage and benefits for patients
• Communicate with insurance companies, healthcare providers, and patients regarding authorization status
• Monitor and track authorization requests through completion
• Review and analyze insurance policies to determine coverage requirements
• Maintain accurate documentation in electronic health record systems
• Follow up on pending authorizations and resolve any authorization-related issues
• Ensure compliance with insurance regulations and company policies
• Coordinate with clinical staff to gather necessary documentation for authorization submissions
• Generate and maintain authorization reports for tracking and analysis

• 2+ years of experience in insurance authorization, medical billing or related healthcare field
• Proficiency in medical billing software and Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems
• Strong knowledge of insurance policies, procedures, and healthcare regulations
• Experience with ICD-10 and CPT coding
• Excellent organizational and time management skills
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
• Proven attention to detail and accuracy in data entry
• Effective written and verbal communication skills
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
• High school diploma or equivalent required
• Knowledge of medical terminology and healthcare procedures
• Understanding of HIPAA regulations and healthcare compliance requirements
