Job Summary:

The IT Technician will perform first-line technical support duties in the Urban Grid Houston office. Primary duties include desk-side user support and general office IT support. The technician will receive and respond to user help requests for assistance with general hardware and software issues. The technician will also provide general office IT support including: troubleshooting conference room AV equipment issues, ancillary server room tasks, and overseeing the office electronic access control system. This role will interact and consult with the larger Information Technology team both in in-person and remote interactions. The IT Technician must have a strong technical knowledge in Microsoft-based user workstation equipment and operating systems and must possess a customer-oriented mindset to succeed in this position.

Responsibilities:

• Provide both remote and desk-side technical support and troubleshooting in response to assigned service requests submitted into the IT Service Desk ticketing system.
• Perform new employee onboarding support including new equipment deployments and provisioning new account access.
• Support the office electronic access system by provisioning new employee access badges and continually ensuring that all user access logs are kept up to date.
• Support the Urban Grid IT Asset Management program including conducting planned asset replacements.
• Support general office IT needs including maintaining and troubleshooting conference room AV equipment, office printers, etc.
• Providing third party contactors access to various IT equipment as approved by the Director of IT.
• Proactively identify emerging user issues and document relevant solutions in the IT Service Desk ticketing system.
• Perform various shipping and receiving tasks both within the company and with external vendors.
• Other duties assigned.

Location: This position will be in our Houston, TX Headquarters office. Hybrid/ Remote work. Position may require occasional trips to Richmond, VA or Stevensville, MD offices for team meetings or site visits to support engineering and development activities.

• 2-3 years of direct experience (or equivalent training) work with Microsoft Windows OS, Microsoft Office, and Microsoft 365.
• Ability to diagnose and resolve basic technical issues reported by employees in the local office.
• Strong written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
• Able to work independently and complete routine service request procedures.
• Strong work ethic and exceptionally high work standards.
• Able to regularly lift up to 50lbs.
