Introduction to Shield AI

Founded in 2015, Shield AI is a venture-backed defense technology company whose mission is to protect service members and civilians with intelligent systems. In pursuit of this mission, Shield AI is building the world’s best AI pilot. Its AI pilot, Hivemind, has flown a fighter jet (F-16), a vertical takeoff and landing drone (V-BAT), and a quadcopter (Nova). The company has offices in San Diego, Dallas, Washington DC and abroad. Shield AI’s products and people are currently in the field actively supporting operations with the U.S. Department of Defense and U.S. allies. 


Shield AI has developed a software factory for building, optimizing, evaluating, and analyzing autonomy solutions. The technology has drawn significant interest from industry. We are currently working with these customers to investigate modern warfighting problems and develop/deliver solutions. This position will support deploying, integrating, maintaining, and developing components of this factory for our autonomy teams and customers within isolated/specialized environments.


WHAT YOU'LL DO:
  • Work with a small team of engineers and administrators
  • Integrate our AI training factory and tooling onto new hardware
  • Provide software updates and configuration management between various isolated environments
  • Ensure proper operation of our AI training factory and tooling
  • Coordinate with autonomy teams to build and meet requirements
  • Solve challenging and important problems


REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Typically requires a minimum of 7 years of related experience with a Bachelor’s degree; or 6 years and a Master’s degree; or 4 years with a PhD; or equivalent work experience.
  • 3+ years demonstrated experience with cloud computing solutions and architecture, with a focus on Kubernetes and container orchestration
  • Experience with supporting C++ or Python-based applications
  • Solid understanding of Linux/Unix-based systems (specifically in networking and experience in designing and implementing networked applications)
  • BS/MS in Computer Science, similar degree, or equivalent practical experience
  • Demonstrated record of working hard, being a trustworthy teammate, holding yourself and others to high standards, and being kind to others
  • Experience debugging/troubleshooting deployed, distributed problems
  • Experience developing and deploying automation tooling (ex. Ansible, Chef, Puppet)
  • Must be available to support onsite in Crystal City and surrounding NOVA area
  • The ability to obtain and maintain a US Security Clearance. US citizenship is required as only US citizens are eligible for a security clearance.


PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Experience with Authentication and Authorization frameworks and protocols
  • DoD 8570 IAT Level 2 Compliance
  • Experience supporting Golang-based applications


$150,402 - $226,046 a year

- Temporary employee positions: Hourly within range listed above + temporary benefits package (applicable after 60 days

of employment)

Total package details for International based positions (where applicable):

- International premium, hardship differential, cost of living differential, living quarters allowance, foreign service transfer

Salary compensation is influenced by a wide array of factors including but not limited to skill set, level of experience, licenses and certifications, and specific work location. All offers are contingent on a cleared background and possible reference check.
