The Instructional Designer & Internal Communications Specialist is a key contributor to Royal’s employee experience, learning culture, and internal brand. This hybrid role blends the creativity of storytelling and content design with the strategic impact of internal communications. You will craft engaging, informative, and inspiring messages across our internal communications platforms while also designing learning content that supports employee development, operational excellence, and organizational alignment.deliverables.

Key ResponsibilitiesInternal Communications
- Develop and execute clear, engaging, and culturally aligned internal communications across multiple channels (email, DM, digital screens, print, company platform, etc.).
- Write compelling stories, fun CTAs, announcements, and leadership messages that connect employees to our mission, values, and key initiatives.
- Create and maintain editorial calendars and campaigns for consistent and timely communication.
- Partner with cross-functional teams to amplify programs, initiatives, and milestones across the organization.
- Optimize the use of our internal communications platform to maximize reach, engagement, and clarity.
External Communications
- Design clear, concise, and user-friendly customer-facing instructional materials, such as how-to guides, workflow explainers, service FAQs, and onboarding documents, for healthcare partners, patients, and clients.
- Translate operational workflows into understandable formats for external audiences.
- Partner with Business Development and Client Success to ensure external materials are aligned, professional, and supportive of Royal’s service experience.
- Use storytelling and visuals to explain complex systems or service processes to non-technical audiences.
Instructional Design
- Design, develop, and maintain interactive learning content and materials (e.g., eLearning modules, videos, guides, job aids) that support employee onboarding, compliance, operational training, leadership development, and other key initiatives.
- Collaborate with subject matter experts to translate complex information into accessible and engaging learning experiences.
- Apply adult learning principles, inclusive design practices, and innovative content formats to ensure knowledge retention and engagement.
- Measure learning outcomes and continuously improve content based on feedback and business needs.
- Manage outsourced support, including contractors and freelancers, to supplement Royal’s instructional design efforts or provide additional capacity as needed for specific projects.
- Oversee vendor coordination, ensure alignment with brand and learning standards, and maintain quality control across all deliverables.
Minimum Qualifications- 1-3 years of experience in internal communications, instructional design, or a similar hybrid role
- Exceptional storytelling, writing, and editing skills with a strong eye for tone, clarity, and impact
- Experience working with a variety of communication and design platforms and learning tools (e.g., Adobe, Canva, Camtasia, or LMS platforms)
- A deep understanding of adult learning theory, inclusive content design, and behavior change principles
- Creative thinker with a sense of fun, curiosity, and a passion for people
- Strong project management and cross-functional collaboration skills
- Comfortable in a fast-paced, high-touch, mission-driven environment
$80,000 - $100,000 a year
