Materials + Facilities Technician

Retro develops therapies for diseases driven by the biology of aging. We focus on cellular reprogramming and autophagy to rejuvenate cell and tissue function with the ultimate aim of adding 10 years to healthy human lifespan.

We’re building a mission-driven team of accomplished and kind individuals who embrace our startup culture of rapid iteration, transparency, and versatility.

We are hiring a new member of our Sci Ops team whose primary focus will be on supporting the movement of materials, maintenance of secure access points, and general facility operations, ensuring our spaces are safe, efficient, and ready to support our missions. You will be a part of the Science Operations team - a close-knit group of dedicated, resourceful humans, and you’ll report to their fearless leader.

About you:

You have a keen eye for detail and love creating efficient systems that others can rely on. You enjoy both logistics-driven tasks and the challenge of dynamic troubleshooting. No task is too small and if you see something that needs doing, you don’t wait to be told before jumping in to help. You love a challenge and when given the chance to work on something new, you’re resourceful and scrappy. You're energized by the idea of contributing directly to our team's operational excellence and enabling groundbreaking science every day.

What you'll do in this role:
  • Streamline and centralize how we receive, track, and move materials across labs, offices, warehouse, and loading zones - making sure everything gets where it needs to go, when it needs to be there
  • Take charge of receiving, inspecting, logging, and distributing everything from small office deliveries to freight shipments - keeping our flow organized and ensuring nothing slips through the cracks
  • Prepare and pack shipments - from basic office supplies to lab equipment to the occasional hazardous material - making sure everything is safe, compliant, and ready to go
  • Keep an eye (and an ear) on our building security systems - helping to set up, monitor, and maintain access points, alarms, and keys so our spaces stay safe, secure, and ready for science
  • Help keep our two adjacent facilities (50k sq ft total) organized, clean, and fully operational - whether that means moving equipment, assembling furniture, tackling heavy lifts, or staying ahead of whatever needs doing
  • Work closely with the Sci Ops team and external vendors - keeping projects moving, and timelines on track, and making sure no one’s left guessing about what’s next
  • Serve as a key on-call responder for facility emergencies and urgent issues (such as power failures, security alarms, equipment malfunctions, and urgent logistical support) - this is a rotating team responsibility which includes some nights, weekends, and holidays

You might thrive in this role if:
  • Have 2+ years of experience in logistics, operations, facilities maintenance, or a related field - bonus if you've supported warehouse logistics or security management
  • Have a natural aptitude for organization and material flow - you're methodical, detail-oriented, and enjoy optimizing inventory and material handling processes
  • Are a clear and proactive communicator, adept at keeping multiple stakeholders informed and aligned
  • Embrace technology and organization - you’re familiar with digital tools such as Google Workspace, Asana, and Notion to track tasks and document work, as well as confident in picking up new softwares or systems to monitor the facilities
  • Take pride in your work - you don’t wait around for a work order when you notice a problem, you feel ownership of the facilities’ well-being
  • Are willing to work flexible hours, including participating in an on-call rotation to manage critical operational or security issues outside of regular business hours
  • Are physically comfortable in an active role - you’re able to safely lift and handle materials and supplies (up to 50 lbs), using appropriate support and equipment

$75,000 - $95,000 a year
Total compensation also includes generous equity and benefits including:

- Medical, dental, and vision insurance for you and your family
- 401(k) plan with 4% matching
- Flexible time off and 10 company holidays per year
- Annual learning & development stipend
- Daily Retro-sponsored lunch and snacks

We take pride in cultivating an environment that fosters collaboration, open communication, and authenticity. We believe that great results are best delivered by a highly creative team working in concert. We are an equal opportunity employer; we do not discriminate on the basis of race, religion, color, national origin, gender, sexual orientation, age, marital status, veteran status, or disability status. We are diverse in background and singular in mission.
