Key Responsibilities

• Monitor journals and preprints for new developments, cultivate sources, and attend conferences
• Report and write stories in various formats, including breaking news, trend analysis, and feature-length narratives
• Mentor junior colleagues, contribute story ideas in meetings, and collaborate with the visuals team and editors

Required Qualifications

• At least five years of science reporting experience in a competitive environment
• Deep knowledge of biomedical research, with familiarity in neuroscience preferred
• Good story judgment and familiarity with government policies affecting biomedical research
• Ability to work collegially with editors and art staff
• Willingness and ability to travel for conferences and reporting
