Summary Description:

The Senior Art Director, TCG supports the visual direction and goals for Disney Lorcana TCG in art direction and vision as well as commissioning, inspiring, and guiding artists to do their best work and be a subject matter expert for the IP. In collaboration with creative management and other multi-disciplinary wider team members, the Senior Art Director establishes a set’s vision and theming, manages important art processes, and mentors and coaches other team members.

Job Duties and Responsibilities (Essential Functions):
• Establish mood boards for theming & world building
• Develop visual hooks for each assigned set
• Develop visual solutions to accomplish brand, narrative, and game design goals
• Help establish and maintain the brand as a leader in the industry by pushing the quality of art and creativity in the product
• Write & review card art descriptions and provide best practices feedback to Narrative and Production teams.
• Commission illustrations and provide timely feedback to artists.
• Create redlines or corrective artwork to guide & mentor artists
• Prepare concept art, sketches, and final artwork for licensor reviews.
• Develop assets and work within Licensor and Ravensburger TCG guidelines.
• Provide feedback on premium card production.
• Aid in growing the freelance artist pool with an aim to enhance the product and reflect Ravensburger’s quality standards.
• Participate and give presentations in regular Creative meetings with other stakeholders.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
• Teaching & mentoring.
• Understanding of visual storytelling, especially through a TCG.
• Detail-oriented and can self-manage the moving parts of an evolving creative pipeline.
• Strong drawing capabilities, understanding of anatomy, perspective and lighting.
• Understanding of how visual development and narrative work together.
• Ability to meet tight deadlines and inspire others to do the same.
• Knowledge of artistic and technical illustration fundamentals.
• Create visual development artwork to solve narrative needs.
• Provides clear and helpful feedback to artists, so their best work comes through.
• Finds solutions to creative challenges.
• Strong sense of aesthetics.
• Collaborative and active team player.
• Diversity and inclusion are top of mind.
• Knowledge and love of Disney animation and seek to be a proud steward of it.

Experience:

5+ years experience as an art leader in TCG, visual development, or related field.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $90,000.00 – $110,000.00 per year
