Job Summary

A company is looking for an Authorization Specialist (Remote in Wisconsin/Michigan).

Key Responsibilities

• Review patient medical records to determine the necessity of prior authorization for treatments, procedures, or medications
• Verify patient eligibility and contact insurance companies to obtain necessary authorizations
• Manage the authorization process to minimize delays in patient care

Required Qualifications, Training, and Education

• Minimum of two years' experience in a medical business office or healthcare setting
• Understanding of basic medical terminology, disease processes, and treatment options
• Familiarity with various insurance plans and prior authorization guidelines
• Completion of post-secondary courses in Medical Terminology, Diagnosis and CPT Coding, and Anatomy & Physiology is preferred
• Graduate of a Medical Assistant, Health Unit Coordinator, or Health Care Business Service program is preferred
