Senior Electrical Engineer

Procon Consulting, a fast-growing professional services firm in McLean, VA with expertise in providing program and project management for design and construction, project controls, commissioning, construction-related technology, and facilities management, seeks Senior Electrical Engineers in Huntsville, AL.


The Senior Electrical Engineer will provide comprehensive electrical engineering support to the Architectural Engineering Services Unit (AESU) of the FBI. The role involves design, review, and oversight of electrical systems for renovation and construction projects, ensuring compliance with FBI standards and federal regulations. The engineer will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver functional, safe, and efficient systems.


Responsibilities & Duties
  • Review electrical design drawings and specifications for systems such as lighting, power distribution, grounding, lightning protection, generators, and UPS systems.
  • Perform electrical load calculations, size equipment, and review product specifications and design layouts.
  • Conduct site visits for data collection, system evaluation, and recommendations.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve electrical system issues and provide expert guidance.
  • Interpret and apply National Electrical Code and other standards.
  • Act as a consultant to establish design standards and construction criteria.
  • Manage quality assurance and quality control during construction.
  • Write scopes of work, review RFIs, and prepare field reports.
  • Design power systems for communication equipment and data center facilities.
  • Coordinate cable tray layouts and ensure appropriate conduit and door hardware conditions.
  • Review photometric plans, sound masking, and PA systems for accuracy and functionality.
  • Assist in project scheduling, documentation, and report preparation.
  • Collaborate with team members and other stakeholders to resolve project challenges.


Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited institution.
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in electrical system design and construction for commercial or government facilities (20+ years preferred)
  • Proficient in AutoCAD and Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project)
  • Strong analytical, communication, and multitasking skills
  • Knowledge of the National Electrical Code, federal standards, and FBI design requirements
  • Must possess an active Secret clearance 


Preferred Qualifications
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred.
  • Experience with data centers and workspace optimization preferred


$115,000 - $150,000 a year
Salary commensurate with experience.
