Director of Digital Strategy

At Planned Parenthood of Wisconsin, Inc. This is an excellent opportunity for a Director of Digital Strategy (40 hours/week) at our Jackson Street Administration Office in Milwaukee, Wisconsin and/or in our Doty Street Administration Office in Madison, WI.

PPWI’s compensation philosophy is rooted in equity. Starting offers are determined by both the candidate’s applicable experience and internal equity. The Director of Digital Strategy pay starts from $35.00 per hour. 


PURPOSE OF POSITION: 


This position is responsible for developing and executing digital communications strategies for PPWI’s and PPAWI’s communications through all digital platforms and ensure that the organization’s digital experiences align with and support the organization’s mission, vision, values, brand, reputation, and strategic goals.  This position ensures digital communications are inclusive and representative of the communities we serve.  


This position plays a key leadership role in cross-collaborating with agency departments to translate agency-wide strategic initiatives into actionable plans that create continuity in digital messaging, internally and externally. The role actively integrates social media channels, inbound marketing efforts, and digital advertisements into campaigns and strategies that underpin the Planned Parenthood of Wisconsin (PPWI) mission. The person is responsible for developing and executing short and long-term communications strategies through the lens of Planned Parenthood of Wisconsin’s diversity, equity and inclusion plan and vision to enhance the experiences all staff, patients, and community members. 


QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: 


- Must be committed to excellent customer service and the mission, vision and values of Planned Parenthood of Wisconsin.

- Possess a strong commitment to and understanding of comprehensive, voluntary, sexual and reproductive health programs and a person’s freedom to make personal health care decisions, including abortion.  

- Track record of centering equity and justice in previous work. Demonstrated ability to tell important and impactful stories that center around marginalized communities, women, people of color, members of the LGBTQ+ community, etc. 

- Must be able to work collaboratively and develop and maintain relationships with multiple constituencies.  

- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively, both in writing and verbally.  

- Experience developing organic and paid digital media strategies.  

- Experience managing digital communications, building awareness campaigns and driving key messages to identified target audiences. 

- Demonstrated ability to develop digital communication plans to elevate an issue, brand, or message to various communities and audiences. 

- Must be able to maintain confidential information. 

- Must have the ability to simultaneously manage multiple projects and urgent, unexpected needs in a collaborative, fast paced environment. 

- Able to adapt to the evolving needs of a project and see it from a big picture perspective while breaking it down into smaller pieces. 

- Experience with Microsoft applications such as Word, Excel, and Power Point preferably in MS 365. 


EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: 


- A bachelor’s degree in journalism, public relations, communications or other related discipline with at least five years of experience in developing and executing strategies in journalism, digital, earned, owned, and/or paid media communications, public affairs, and/or message development.  

- An equivalent combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge and abilities can be acquired may be considered.  


PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: 


The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.  Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.  The position is predominantly sedentary requiring the ability to sit, bend, stand and walk.  May require occasional stooping, reaching, stair-climbing.  Requires repetitive motions of the hands and wrist related to writing and typing on a keyboard.  Rarely requires kneeling, pushing/pulling and repetitive motions of the feet. 


Physical demands of the position necessitate hearing, talking, handling and grasping regularly.  May require lifting up to 30 pounds. Specific vision conditions include close vision reading.  Requires the ability to operate a computer, telephone, fax, copy machine and adding machine or calculator. 


WORKING CONDITIONS: 


The position is generally performed in an office environment but involves frequent interruptions.  The work environment characteristics are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this position.  Reasonable accommodations, however, may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform said essential functions.  


Occasional evenings and weekends may be necessary. 


This position requires traveling statewide. Must have access to transportation. This may include having a valid driver’s license and auto insurance in accordance with agency liability standards and/or the ability to schedule transportation in accordance with the agency’s travel and reimbursement policies.     


ESSENTIAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • include, but are not limited to the following: 

Plan & Lead Digital Strategy: 

  • Directs general agency digital communication needs and leads digital marketing and social media strategies and solutions to ensure strategies align with the needs of each department and support the agency’s strategic goals 
  • Engages with Planned Parenthood Federation of America (PPFA) on strategic digital communications as an affiliate of PPFA and on responses to national topics, events and stories to ensure alignment between PPWI and PPFA digital communications strategies. 
  • Support community-based teams around events and new/expanded offerings.  
  • Serve as point person for Planned Parenthood Federation of America digital communications team and work closely with national staff to create alignment between national and affiliate message goals. 
  • Support the continued buildout and expansion of a sophisticated digital organizing and mobilization program.  
  • Develop and execute a full digital media relations strategy in collaboration with traditional media and marketing. Includes actions items such as: 
·         Assist in the development of media content for multiple media platforms. 
·         Develop toolkits, digital message documents for PPWI and PPAWI. 
  • Content development, inbound marketing, digital donor strategy, digital advertising, website development and design, user experience, and search engine optimization.  
  • Serve as agency spokesperson at coalition tables, including on new/emerging digital platforms and best practices. 
  • Stay up to date on digital media trends and best practices, making recommendations to the department on new strategies and tactics with an equity and inclusion lens. 
  • Work with Marketing Department to ensure website and digital media is current. 
  • Work with outside consultants to support content development and leverage impact. 

Data Analysis: 

  • Implement a data-driven framework for tracking and analyzing campaign performance using  Content Management System and conversion metrics using a Customer Relationship Management database. 
  • Undertakes continuous analysis of competitive environment, public procurement trends, and issues that may impact the program and develop best practices for marketing programs.  
  • Advises agency leadership on digital marketing and communications strategy and execution: including online metrics, user experience, search engine optimization, and digital content strategy.  

  • Other duties as assigned.
