Staff Physician - Full Time

POSITION SUMMARY Provides comprehensive sexual and reproductive health care including but not limited to contraception, abortion and miscarriage management (medication and procedural), gender affirming hormone therapy, colposcopy and LEEP, general office gynecology, ultrasound, well-person examinations, and testing and treatment for sexually transmitted and other infections. Provides care in alignment with the Planned Parenthood of Greater New York (PPGNY) Manual of Medical Standards and Guidelines (MS&Gs). Experience in comprehensive sexual and reproductive health services preferred; PPGNY will train new staff in services as appropriate. Position may be full or part time. Position will involve travel to health centers in the employee’s region. 


Job Duties and Responsibilities
  • Administrative (5%):
  • Completes all required trainings assigned by the agency in a timely manner. Attends required agency didactics. Obtains continuing education credits for maintenance of certification and licensure.
  • Participates in agency quality and risk management program including health center-based quality assurance activities as assigned by medical leadership.
  • Understands and commits to achieving a high standard of customer satisfaction and promoting equity during health care delivery. Participates in health center efforts to achieve goals set to improve customer relations, increase customer satisfaction and promote repeat customer visits.
  • Completes all responsibilities according to established protocols, policies and standard practices in the areas of ADA and regulatory compliance programs such as HIPAA, OSHA, CLIA and in compliance with Federal and State regulations.
  • Completes all responsibilities in compliance with PPGNY policies and procedures.
  • Works effectively with staff at all organizational levels and with volunteers, trainees and temporary agency personnel.
  • Adheres to affiliate goals, policies, and standards of conduct related to professionalism.
  • Assists center staff in achieving time efficient visits; meets health center productivity goals.
  • Stays up to date on health center emergency procedures and responds appropriately.
  • Informs manager of medical incidents and occurrences.
  • Performs other duties as required.
  • Direct Clinical Care: (90%)
  • Provides health care which is individualized to the patient and consistent with PPGNY MS&Gs, policies and procedures.
  • Provides comprehensive outpatient sexual and reproductive including medication and procedural abortion, miscarriage management, RIA, colposcopy and LEEP, gender affirming hormone therapy, STI screening/testing/treatment/prevention, contraception, menopause care, endometrial and vulvar biopsy, general office gynecology, ultrasound, and well-person care.
  • Performs, orders and interprets appropriate laboratory and radiologic tests.
  • Provides appropriate education, evaluation, management and referral for people of all genders seeking sexual and reproductive health care.
  • Ensures appropriate medical follow-up of all patient testing and/or treatment, including direct patient contacts and laboratory test review.
  • Creates and maintains medical documentation in EHR system in compliance with EHR policies and procedures.
  • Appropriately codes and bills for care provided; responds to all coding inquiries in a timely fashion.
  • Seeks consultations as appropriate from Regional Director of Clinical Services, Medical Director or designee
  • Collaborates with advanced practice clinicians, medical assistants, health center operations staff and other members of the health care team and makes referrals to medical and community resources as indicated.
  • Provides limited clinical consultation to advanced practice clinicians during health center operating hours and on call.
  • Participates in the on-call system (does not include in-person on-call duties).
  • Training: (5%)
  • At the discretion and direction of the Regional Director of Clinical Services or Medical Director, assists in training and orientation for newly hired clinicians and new skill development for staff clinicians.
  • At the discretion and direction of the health center management, assists in training and orientation for newly hired clinical support staff.

Required Qualifications
  • Minimum education
  • Graduate of an accredited Medical School o Graduate of a residency in Ob/Gyn or Family Medicine preferred. Graduate of a residency in Pediatrics and a Fellowship in Adolescent Medicine may be considered.
  • Minimum work experience o 1 year of post-residency experience preferred. o PPGNY will train new staff in services as appropriate.
  • Licensures/Certifications o Current active New York State license as a Physician.
  • PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • 2 years of experience providing sexual and reproductive health care including abortion, colposcopy and LEEP, and gender affirming hormone therapy.
  • Bilingual in Spanish.


$250,000 - $250,000 a year

All positions at PPGNY require:

Proof of immunization or immunity to certain communicable diseases (including influenza during the flu season and Covid-19) and testing for tuberculosis. These certifications are required by the NYC DOHMH Health Code, NYSDOH and OSHA.
