About PayPay

PayPay, a FinTech company that has surpassed 65 million users in just five years since its launch in 2018, is currently made up of diverse members from approximately 50 countries and regions. Although the number of employees has already exceeded several thousand, the company is still in the growth stage and is still "unfinished." In building PayPay, we collaborate with Paytm, India's largest payment service provider, and leverage Paytm's customer-oriented technology to build smartphone payment services in Japan and continue to expand the service.

Our biggest rival is "cash". We are passionate about rapidly promoting the spread of cashless payments in Japan and making PayPay a financial life platform - taking incremental steps and proactively tackling this challenge, refining the product at an overwhelming speed that no other company can imitate. We are looking for colleagues who will take initiative, discover issues on their own, and collaborate with those around them to promote the creation of new value.

About the role

As a Data Analyst in the Product Division at PayPay, you will play a crucial role in enhancing our ecosystem's convenience and profitability. Leveraging the vast amounts of data from over 65 million users and 2.35 million merchants, you will drive increased user engagement and usage frequency, thereby contributing to PayPay's growth and revenue.

For this application, you will need experience working in Japan and to choose between 2 different teams:

  • Data Analytics Team 1: In charge of Product Analytics of CoreApp, Merchant Services and Payment Services as well as Analytics Engineering (Support analysts through technical skills). 

OR

  • Data Analytics Team 2: In charge of leveraging data to generate business insights and drive decision-making primarily for (but not limited to) the Product division and for Financial Services, acting as a strategic partner to the business and stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with product managers and executives to support data-driven decision-making with reliable data analysis and deliver actionable insights.
  • Proactively analyze data to answer key questions for stakeholders, verify independent ideas and competitive examples, and make suggestions for product and function development and improvement.
  • Design and propose product KPIs, creating and maintaining dashboards, and monitoring relevant data.
  • Contribute to data-driven processes and initiatives, including knowledge sharing, rule creation, stakeholder support, and education. Develop clear documentation and educational materials, and identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Create and maintain rich interactive visualizations through data interpretation and analysis from multiple data sources.
  • Interact cross-functionally with product, business planning, marketing, and sales teams to share analytical knowledge and collaborate on projects.
  • Design and build data warehouses and data marts for responsible products, making it easy for anyone to utilize product data.
  • Evangelize a data-driven culture throughout the organization, improving experimental/test design, contributing to best practices, and partnering with stakeholders and data partners.

Technical Environment: BigQuery, LookerStudio, JupyterLab, Google Analytics, dbt, and GitHub.

Required experience/skills (Need to have)

  • At least 3 years of experience in data analysis.
  • Expertise in statistics (understanding of correlation, causation, various tests, etc.)
  • Skills in designing, validating, visualizing, and reporting A/B tests
  • Demonstrated ability to generate data insights to understand and measure business goals while proactively identifying business opportunities.
  • Proven ability to build trust and relationships with diverse stakeholders.

Preferred experience/skills (Nice to have)

  • Experience in promoting a data-driven culture within a company.
  • Analysis experience using large-scale data.
  • Experience in building data warehouses/data marts.
  • Experience in the payments, financial technology, or e-commerce space.
  • Management experience within an analyst organization.
  • Japanese language skills.

Salary

  • Annual salary paid in 12 installments (monthly)
  • Based on skills, experience, and abilities
  • Reviewed once a year
  • Special Incentive once a year *Based on company performance and individual contribution and evaluation
  • Late overtime allowance, Work from anywhere allowance (JPY100,000)
