Desk-Based Account Manager

We’re a multi-award-winning drinks and technology start-up on a mission to disrupt the drinks industry.

We’re re-imagining online drinks retail from the ground up, using cutting-edge technology and fanatical customer service to build a company we want to be customers of and create unexpected delight as we help people explore, buy and enjoy high-end whisky and other spirits.

In everything we do, we are disruptive innovators; it is baked into our DNA to challenge orthodoxy and receive wisdom wherever we find it.

We’ve grown a lot since we were just a few kids in a shed with big dreams, but we haven’t lost our hunger to build something great, and we’re looking for people who have the same passion for making things better to join us on that journey.

In the last 10 years, we’ve become the number 1 player in our industry, but we’ve barely gotten started. We’re excited about the future, so if you’d like to come and help us build it, read on!

The Role of the Desk-based Account manager is to support the expansion of Master of Malt Trade through strategic lead generation initiatives and to nurture and grow relationships with our existing office-based accounts. The Desk-Based Account Manager will be responsible for proactively identifying opportunities, building and maintaining long-term relationships with potential and existing customers, understanding their evolving needs, and ensuring the delivery of exceptional service to achieve revenue targets and client retention. You will also support the field-based sales team where appropriate.

  • Account Management: Managing a customer base, tracking performance, and identifying areas of opportunity and improvement. Addressing customer issues and concerns, collaborating with internal teams to find solutions.
  • Relationship Management: Building and maintaining strong relationships with assigned accounts and understanding their evolving needs.
  • Customer Support: Responding to inquiries, resolving issues, and ensuring customer satisfaction.
  • Reporting: Upload accurate data to our CRM and maintain it with regular updates and cleansing. Compiling reports on account performance and activities.
  • Communication: Regularly communicating with clients, providing updates, and gathering feedback. Outbound dialling UK trade clients to offer promotions, competition opportunities and event invites.
  • Lead Generation: Research, prospect, and qualify potential new trade clients by engaging with businesses over the phone and email. Generating qualified and engaged leads and opportunities to ensure a healthy pipeline of prospective customers for our sales teams. These will be a mixture of organic and self-generated leads.
  • Assisting the trade team with opening new accounts and gaining initial orders.
  • Liaise with sales and customer relations teams to ensure coordination and smooth onboarding of new clients.

About you:

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate confidently and professionally over the phone
  • Sales and relationship management experience: Experience in building and maintaining client relationships. Ability to negotiate terms and close deals effectively.
  • Ability to analyse data, customer needs, and identify trends.
  • Organised with the ability to multitask and prioritise effectively.
  • Dedication to providing excellent customer service.
  • You’re outgoing and tenacious, thriving on chasing leads and generating new business.
  • Good commercial and business awareness, with the ability to identify good prospects.
  • Experienced in outbound calls and lead generation.
  • Self-starter, highly motivated and tenacious.
  • Tech-savvy and able to pick up new programmes quickly.

Values Alignment

We’re not about dictating what you can and can’t do. Instead, we provide context through our values and principles so that you have the freedom and the responsibility to be the best you can be and do great things in the process. Here’s a snapshot of them, with the full suite on our intranet. Check them out because if you’re aligned with them, you’ll thrive at Atom. If you’re not so sure, Atom probably isn’t the place for you.

  • Customer obsession
    • Everything is oriented towards delivering value to the customer and making their life better

  • Hospitality
    • Our product is how people feel, do they feel love and care? We get a buzz from helping people and making them feel great by exceeding their expectations.

  • Growth mindset
    • We’re deeply humble and introspective.  We know we know almost nothing about almost everything.
    • We’re infinitely curious and always hungry to learn.

  • Humanity
    • Anti-corporate and anti-bureaucratic: the opposite of “computer says no”.
    • We’re honest, and we tell the truth when others would be afraid to because we trust in the humanity and goodness of our customers.

  • Fun
    • Life is short, enjoy it:  do shit you love with people you love.
    • Be yourself, don’t wear a mask.

We’re all about boundless curiosity, so you’ll discover loads of opportunities to spark your creative flair and work along-side unreal talent who all have the same job description, to ‘Make Atom Successful.’ Trust is at the epicentre of all that we can do, so you’ll work in a transparent and honest environment where we have each other’s backs, and be free of aging corporate policies and rules.

Life here’s about so much more than pay and benefits - you might get a slightly higher salary if you cram onto an expensive, crowded commuter train into the city, but you’ll struggle to find a company with the flex, agility and unique-ness that we have. In short, we’ve got you covered financially but if money is your main driver, we’re not for you.

We hate waste in all of it’s forms and time is no different, so we’re focused on productivity and output rather than when or where you work, or what you wear into the office - you can come in fancy dress for all we care! This means that although we can’t promise anything, flexible working options are built into our DNA.

Along with the stuff you get for turning up to work each day (think private healthcare scheme, unlimited annual leave, pension, cycle-2-work, eye care, enhanced maternity & paternity leave, free food, drinks and parking at the office), you’ll also get a healthy staff discount on our world-class range (just in case that makes a difference).

We don’t sit still, and there’s a lot more to come... Apply now if you want to join us.
