Lighthouse Reports is an award-winning investigative newsroom working with some of the world’s leading media to deliver deeply reported, public interest investigations. We build newsrooms around topics and innovate new approaches to accountability journalism focused on migration, climate, conflict and corruption. We’ve co-published series and investigations with more than 150 partners around the world. We work across formats from drama and documentary to news and radio, podcasts, print and socials.

We’re hiring a Visual Impact Producer to help us enhance our impact and reach new audiences through video. This is an opportunity to challenge assumptions about who produces investigative journalism, who engages with it and where they do so. If you think that powerful reporting can be shaped in ways that attract and compel the audiences it needs to reach, we want to talk to you. 

You have an eye for compelling narratives and strong technical skills. You’re highly creative about finding new ways to bring investigative stories to life beyond the linear explainer for social media. You will be responsible for producing, shooting, and editing high-quality video content about our investigations that inspires and informs audiences that are more likely to engage with social media and video content over print or other formats.

Key Responsibilities:

• Content Creation: Develop, produce, and edit video content in a range of formats like short documentaries, vertical short forms for Reels, TikToks and Shorts, and investigative reports long form for YouTube and websites for use by Lighthouse, our media partners around the world and independent producers about Lighthouse’s investigations and topic areas, ensuring high production values and compelling storytelling. 
• Distribution: Work with us to improve our distribution and external communications on our social media channels and in collaboration with our media partners. Enhance our social media presence on platforms like Instagram, TikTok, YouTube and Twitter and work on distribution strategies to maximise reach and engagement.
• Strategy: Advise teams on how to maximise the impact of their investigations and reach new audiences using video products. Including strategic engagement with influencers, vertical video platforms and communities. 
• Collaboration: Work closely across our multi-disciplinary team including journalists, editors, technical specialists, media partners and the impact team to create cohesive and impactful visual narratives out of the investigative material. 
• Project Management: Oversee video projects from conception to completion, managing timelines and working independently. 
• Impact: Craft videos that tell stories to diverse audiences and can help drive change.

• Track record in producing highly shareable short-form content for social media

• Proven experience as a Video Producer, Videographer, or similar role, preferably in a journalism or nonprofit setting
• Portfolio demonstrating excellent video production and editing skills
• Proficiency in video editing software and after effects editing. 
• Excellent storytelling skills with a passion for investigative journalism
• Experience using visual storytelling to maximise impact 
• Ability to work under tight deadlines and manage multiple projects simultaneously
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with a diverse team
• More than one language and experience working with multilingual teams are at an advantage

• Salary range: €40,000-50,000 depending on experience
