Job Summary

This position will be the Region’s lead accounting, finance and administration role with the primary responsibility of managing the day-to-day accounting, financial and administrative activities of the Region. The individual will report directly to the CFO or his/her designee. The successful candidate will have significant interaction with the Operations Leader, Project Managers and Assistant Project Managers, Superintendents, as well as the Corporate Finance and Accounting Team. The individual will be responsible for hiring and developing professionals within the Region to execute the responsibilities of the accounting and finance group.

Responsibilities and Duties  

  • Manage and supervise project accounting staff to provide an efficient team to perform assigned tasks.
  • The Regional Ops Controller will be knowledgeable and oversee all aspects of project accounting and each project in the Region as well as be responsible for supervision of the following:
    • Prepare and track the monthly requisitions to the owner,
    • Participate in the process of project forecast updates – CTC/WIP – with Project Managers/Project Engineers,
    • Monitor/track any over/under billings and work with Project Manager and/or Project Engineer
    • Monitor for any potential high-risk projects and work with project management for plan/resolution
    • Procure to Pay – oversee the process including selecting subcontractor and vendor invoices to be included in the weekly disbursement cycle,
    • Ensure the subcontractor is complying with terms and conditions of the contract (i.e. insurance, lien releases, waivers, billing procedures, etc.).
    • Process subcontractor requisitions and vendor invoices
    • Monitor and track the cash position of the projects
    • The person will work closely with the Project Managers, Project Engineers and Superintendents on all facets of project accounting and administration.
  • Manage regional cash collection activity as well as prepare Cash Forecasts.
  • Prepare the Monthly P&L Forecast in collaboration with the Operations Leader.
  • Prepare G&A Forecast and monitor the financial operations to ensure compliance with budgets.
  • Backlog Report for the Region.
  • Responsible for identifying Cap Ex requirements for the Region.
  • Act as a liaison between the Corporate Risk Management and the Project Teams.
  • Management of all accounting and finance activity in the Region.
  • Function as the financial management link between the Region and Corporate accounting.
  • Participate in regional management, client and project meetings as required.

Qualifications and Skills 

  • Minimum of eight to ten years of relevant experience, preferably in the construction industry.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Business required.
  • Extensive knowledge of standard accounting policies and procedures.
  • Experience with construction industry accounting rules and regulations.
  • CPA certification a plus.
  • PMP certification a plus.
