Job Description

We are seeking a Mechanical Engineering Summer Intern to be part of our MTS Structures Testing Business. This internship will have a focus on documentation structures, value stream mapping and process mapping, with opportunity to collaborate with our Quality Engineering intern. 

Join the MTS Systems Internship Program, where you'll take on impactful projects, connect with industry leaders, and grow your career. As an intern, you'll work on real-world challenges that directly influence our business, while building a professional network with fellow interns and top leaders across Minnesota and beyond!

This full-time, paid internship is located on-site in Eden Prairie, Minnesota. You'll be part of a collaborative team, working with a manager and mentor to complete a project from start to finish during the summer. Plus, with flexible start and end dates, you can tailor the experience to your schedule.

Throughout the program, you'll have opportunities to attend networking events, both within MTS and across ITW’s divisions in Minnesota. You’ll also enjoy personal and professional development sessions, plus fun activities like baseball games, happy hours, and summer sports leagues.

At the end of the summer, you'll present your project to MTS business leaders, showcasing your contributions and impact. If you're ready for a summer filled with learning, growth, and excitement, the MTS Systems Internship Program is for you!

Qualifications

​​​​​​Required Qualifications:

  • Rising junior or senior pursuing a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or related degree
  • 3.0 GPA or above.
  • Experience with SolidWorks or similar CAD program
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook).
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines
  • Eager to learn, with a proactive and positive attitude.
  • Leadership and teamwork capabilities required (extracurricular, academic, etc.).
  • Must be able to work onsite at our Eden Prairie, MN location. 
  • Previous relevant internship experience preferred.

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Material Science 300+ class
  • Knowledge of mechatronics or electro-mechanical systems
  • Experience with data verification and validation
  • Experience with white box or black box simulations

The hourly rate for this position ranges from $24-27/ hour based on degree and experience
