Job Summary: This position is responsible for promoting and maintaining a strong safety culture within the organization.  This role involves inspecting wireless telecommunications job sites, developing and conducting safety and job-related training for employees, and ensuring compliance with safety regulations and standards.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

·         Ability to design, develop, and execute high quality training programs in accordance with industry standards, best practices, and regulatory requirements

·         Evaluate the effectiveness of training programs and customize materials to meet specific hazards and risks

·         Promote a proactive safety and risk awareness culture throughout the organization

·         Conduct thorough field and virtual inspections of job sites to ensure compliance with safety and quality standards

·         Identify potential hazards, respond accordingly, and recommend corrective action as required

·         Identify site specific work scopes and potential procedural risks; conduct on-site, ad hoc training to correct deficiencies and eliminate risks

·         Serve as the subject matter expert on at-height processes and procedures and conduct knowledge sharing to increase field capabilities

·         Facilitate interactive and engaging training sessions, topics including but not limited to the installation, maintenance, and repair of telecommunications equipment, the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE), and ongoing safety and health education

·         Investigate and report safety incidents and near misses, root cause analysis, and recommend preventive measures

·         Ensure that all employees have access to the appropriate PPE for their position and conduct routine audits of safety equipment

·         Conduct regular inspections of Company owned vehicles (COVs)

·         Maintain detailed records of safety inspections, training sessions, and incidents

·         Conduct weekly safety meetings with field operations

·         Stay updated on trends, technologies, regulatory changes, and best practices in the wireless industry

·         Identify areas for improvement in safety policies and practices; partner with management to implement changes

·         Assist in developing and implementing emergency response plans as required

·         Prepare and submit reports and analysis as required

·         Other duties as assigned


Qualifications: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty mentioned satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills, and/or ability required.


Education:  Highschool diploma, general education degree (G.E.D.), or related trade school education


Experience:

·         Five years of telecommunications industry experience (minimum 2 years working at heights)

·         Two years of wireless telecommunications training experience  

·         In-depth knowledge of safety regulations in the wireless industry

·         Experience conducting safety inspections and incident investigations

 

Certifications:

·         Competent climber trainer

·         Competent rigger trainer

·         Competent rescue trainer

·         First Aid and CPR trainer

·         OSHA 10-Hour Construction Training

·         National Wireless Safety Alliance (NWSA) Practical Examiner preferred

·         OSHA 30-Hour Construction Training preferred

 

Technical Skills:

·         Computer and Microsoft Office proficiency

·         Proficiency with and/or the ability to quickly learn the organization’s safety and training systems and software

·         Proficiency with industry specific equipment, tools, and procedures

 

Soft Skills:

·         Highly organized and detail oriented

·         Excellent verbal and written communication skills  

·         Ability to work independently and as a member of various teams

·         Ability to manage multiple priorities and work in a fast-paced environment under tight deadlines

·         Ability to think analytically, apply sound judgment, and solve problems

·         Comfortable with public speaking in a classroom environment to a group

·         Familiarity with adult learning principles and training methodologies

 

Physical Requirements:

·         Must be able to pass pre-employment screening that includes background and drug testing

·         Must have a valid driver’s license and a driving record that meets Company requirements

·         Must be in good physical condition with the ability to stoop, crawl, bend at the knees and waist, squat and lift 50 lbs.

·         Ability to reach, climb, and/or grasp ladders or other tall structures

·         Ability to pull his/her own body weight, plus equipment weight, up a vertical tower to 500 feet repeatedly as required

·         Ability to demonstrate and train proper procedures at heights

·         Ability to work outdoors in all types of weather

·         Ability to work long and unpredictable hours

·         Ability to work in various settings with moderate to loud noise levels 

·         Ability to stand for long periods of time on varied surfaces

·         Ability to travel away from home up to 100% of the time, including weekends and extended travel. Travel includes local site travel or national travel depending on business needs.
