Job Description
Job Title: Senior Manager, Healthcare Consulting
Base Salary: $160-190k USD
Location: West Coast, United States
Work model: Remote
Travel Requirements: 30% - 50% within the United States
Reports to: Chief Executive Officer
Job Summary:
In this role, the Senior Manager, Healthcare Consulting will lead the team and build the consulting practice that supports two lines of business at Indigenous Pact - 1) Healthcare Payor and 2) Care Delivery Solutions. The ideal candidate must have a deep understanding of healthcare payers and providers, value-based, consumer-centric healthcare, and how to package our care services to best impact member healthcare access, quality, experience, and cost. You must also have the ability to develop communication tools, processes, and systems this line of business needs to meet and exceed client expectations and project outcomes.
You are responsible for developing go-to-market sales strategies, engaging and developing health plan and care delivery executive relationships, and identifying, shaping, proposing, closing, and implementing new health care and service solutions and partnerships. This role is foundational to our continued growth and ability to meet the needs of underserved Medicaid, Medicare, American Indian, and Alaskan Native populations.
We have the expertise needed to help American Indian and Alaska Native Communities, in addition to the surrounding general Medicaid and Medicare populations working to address their most pressing needs. In this role, the Senior Manager will work in the Western United States to help define, sell, implement, and support our care service delivery. Our goal is to create a healthcare system driven by innovation and the needs of communities and the members working to survive and thrive within them.
By taking a solution consulting approach the Senior Manager will bring a combination of industry expertise, strategic orientation, analytical rigor, and implementation experience to our care and coverage offer creation, sales, and implementation. To be successful in this role, having strong leadership, management, and business acumen is a must.
Essential Job Functions:
Leadership
- Leading patient care-oriented go-to-market offer creation, sales, and solution implementation efforts for health plans, at-risk providers, and care communities
- Managing client relationships, partnerships, and networks, with a business-to-business orientation
- Builds commitment and understanding required to fulfill contracts, complete projects and accomplish the improvement goals
- Mentors, coaches, and leads the consultant team as they manage multi-faceted projects with deadlines and multiple priorities
- Possesses strong emotional intelligence and listens closely to others while facilitating collaboration to deepen understanding and innovation among team members
- Actively contributes to the development of a diverse, equitable, and inclusive culture wherein all team members feel valued and safe exercising curiosity and delivering and receiving feedback
- Solution-focused while being flexible and adaptive to business needs and change
- Support the CEO, CxO, CMO, Consulting, and Sales teams in partnering with multiple health system partners to maximize patient experience, care, and quality outcomes
- Provides oversight of special projects that may fall outside of standard day-to-day objectives and/or have no natural “home” in the organization
Consulting Practice Management and Delivery
- Guides and directs all aspects of consultancy projects for healthcare solutions in 1) Payor and 2) Care Delivery Business Lines
- Lead, manage, and grow a team that reports on projects which may include but is not limited to project managers, coordinators, technical teams, and other partners to support project deliverables
- Designs and implements strategies, goals, and metrics to drive the team’s success
- Develops and supports a culture of continuous improvement utilizing process improvement methodologies
- Identifies and develops key skills, capabilities, and partnerships required to support a best-practice and innovation-driven consulting practice
- Maintain client relations and conduct periodic client feedback meetings and project reviews
- Aligns resources to the capacity and need
- Manages and allocates budget
- Highly proficient with project management software
Business Development & Marketing
- Generate business by successfully engaging new and existing clients and developing responsive proposals to project opportunities
- Ability to lead client leadership and their stakeholders through complex decision-making processes
- Works closely with the Business Development team to design strategic marketing efforts
- Tracks opportunities, forecasts a pipeline of projects and develops winning strategies and teams
- Provides monthly and quarterly update reports on team activities and metrics plus analysis of strengths and weaknesses in both processes and personnel
- Other tasks as required
Qualifications:
- 8-12+ years of consulting practice experience, preferably in healthcare patient care-oriented/payer/provider/management industry and/or business operations, management consulting / professional services.
- 5+ years of leadership experience, people management experience
- 5+ years of experience working with Tribal communities
- 2+ years of project management experience, with diverse teams and innovative solutions
- Bachelor’s degree in Health Care Administration is preferred (equivalent experience can substitute for degree requirement)
- Solid industry knowledge is needed in payers/health services, providers/medical groups, or large health systems; breadth across industries is attractive.
- Proven success delivering multiple large-scale system, process, and business solutions.
- Experience selling into healthcare clinical enterprises, health plans, business-to-business or business-to-consumer environments.
- Possessing working experience in Payer or Provider operations (domain areas such as Patient Care Programs, Care Coordination, Population Health Management, Quality Gap Closure Programs, Large Scale Clinic or Medical Group Patient Care Operations, Provider Network Management, Value-Based Contracting, Provider Relations, Quality Improvement, Informatics, ACO operations, etc.) to help payers and providers manage their medical costs, quality, and experience.
- Possessing working experience in young and growing organizations and navigating for and not-for-profit enterprises.
- Understanding Medicaid, Medicare, and the commercial healthcare landscape and experience will help develop strategies and programs to match those needs.
- Demonstrated ability to drive, influence, and problem-solve to conclusions across Cigna and Evernorth businesses and teams.
- Detailed understanding of pharmacy supply chain economics gained by work experience at a healthcare/pharmacy benefit management or consulting organization.
- Champions communication and collaboration across the Healthcare Value Chain.
Skills:
- Demonstrated expertise in MS Office Suite of products, (i.e. Visio, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Demonstrated proficiency in using Sales methods and systems in addition to familiarity with healthcare and business enterprise software including Customer Relationship Management (CRM), Electronic Medical Records, and Benefit Administration processes and systems.
- Strong presentation and communication skills with an ability to interact at all levels of leadership, with technical experts, and with external clients and partners in an organized and knowledgeable manner in written (e.g., PowerPoint Presentations, Microsoft Word Scopes of Work) and verbal formats.
- Strong analytical / problem-solving, organizational, and process improvement skills.
- Business process mapping skills.
