About the Team:

The Expansion Products team is responsible for driving volumetric & usage based upgrades and upsells within the platform to maximize revenue potential (apart from the subscription revenue). We do this by building innovative products & features that solve real-world problems for agencies and allow them to consolidate their offering to their clients in a single platform packaged under their white-labled brand. The expansion products team focuses exclusively on products that can demonstrate adoption, drive up engagement in target segments and are easily monetizable. This team handles multiple product areas including Phone System, email system, online listing integration, WordPress Hosting, Memberships & Courses, Mobile Apps, etc.


About the Role:

We are looking for a talented Software Development Engineer III with expertise in WordPress development to join our engineering team. In this role, you will be responsible for building, customizing, and optimizing WordPress-based solutions, including themes, plugins, and custom applications. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including designers, QA engineers, and product managers, to deliver high-quality, scalable, and secure solutions.


Responsibilities:
  • WordPress Theme and Plugin Development: Design, develop, and maintain custom WordPress themes and plugins that align with business needs. Write clean, modular, and reusable code following WordPress coding standards.
  • Custom Development: Work on custom functionalities such as custom post types, taxonomies, shortcodes, and custom fields to meet client-specific requirements.
  • API Integration: Integrate third-party services, APIs, and data sources (e.g., payment gateways, CRMs, or social media) into WordPress websites.
  • Optimization & Performance: Optimize WordPress websites for speed, scalability, and responsiveness. Implement caching strategies, image optimization, and other performance-enhancing techniques.
  • Security Best Practices: Ensure that WordPress sites are secure by adhering to WordPress security guidelines, including securing user data, preventing common vulnerabilities (e.g., SQL injection, XSS), and managing user permissions appropriately.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with designers, front-end developers, and product managers to ensure seamless integration of user interfaces and functionality. Collaborate with QA engineers to ensure code quality and adherence to testing protocols.
  • Troubleshooting & Bug Fixing: Diagnose and resolve performance issues, bugs, and security vulnerabilities within WordPress installations. Provide ongoing support and enhancements for existing WordPress sites.
  • Code Reviews: Participate in code reviews to ensure quality, consistency, and adherence to best practices. Mentor junior developers and guide them in following industry standards.
  • Version Control: Use Git for version control and participate in a collaborative development environment. Ensure proper versioning and manage branches for different feature developments.


Qualifications:
  • 4-5 years of experience in software development with a strong focus on WordPress development.
  • Proficiency in PHP, including experience with WordPress functions, hooks, and template hierarchy.
  • Strong front-end development skills: HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, and knowledge of modern JavaScript frameworks like React or Vue.js.
  • Experience with WordPress REST API and custom endpoint creation.
  • Solid understanding of WordPress best practices, including theme and plugin development, security practices, and performance optimization techniques.
  • Knowledge of performance optimization techniques for WordPress sites (e.g., caching, content delivery networks (CDN), lazy loading).Familiarity with modern development tools and workflows, such as Webpack, Grunt, or Gulp.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot issues across the entire technology stack.
