POSITION SUMMARY
Heritage Werks is seeking a Brand Historian to join their growing team! The Brand Historian is the go-to expert in the histories of their assigned clients, responsible for advising clients on heritage storytelling in alignment with current needs and communications strategies, conducting and supervising research, authoring content for major initiatives and reports, and serving as the face of the client's history in videos and live/virtual appearances. An ideal candidate will demonstrate expertise in historical research and in adapting history topics for a variety of audiences including teaching, writing and museum education or curatorial experience.
RESPONSIBILITIES
· Serve as the lead heritage storyteller for clients, collaborating with archival, creative, and client services teams to bring client history to life for both internal and external stakeholders.
· Conduct and oversee archival and historical research, documenting client histories using Heritage Werks and external resources.
· Work with clients and the client services team to identify and pitch new opportunities, ideate new offerings, and communicate project progress.
· Lead and participate in live and virtual history talks, including master classes, new employee onboarding, and Q&A sessions.
· Curate artifacts, images, and content for creative projects, including museums, exhibits, videos, and websites, in collaboration with creative and archival clients.
· Advise on gaps in archival collections and fill them through collecting, oral histories, or other methods, including conducting interviews or setting interview agendas.
· Support the Managing Director and Associate Directors in establishing and managing execution standards, SOPs, and templates.
· Maintain a thorough understanding of clients to ensure relevance of subject matter, deliverables, and proposals.
· Manage and contribute to multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring timely and on-budget delivery.
· MA in history, or related field is required. PhD is preferred.
· Minimum of four (4) years interpreting history topics for non-academic audiences, with preferred experience in brand or sports museums, history museum education, or business fields such as PR, communications, or consulting.
· Proven ability to manage multiple projects with competing deadlines, ensuring timely and within-budget delivery.
· Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office products and project management software.
· Proficient in articulating and writing with expertise on topics such as business history, popular culture, and/or sports history.
· Exceptional interpersonal skills with outstanding written and verbal communication abilities.
· Proven ability to collaborate effectively in a remote structured and matrixed environment.
