Duties and Role:
- Assists in managing the installation and maintenance of the local Network and Voice Collaboration equipment including but not limited to Modems, Routers, Switches and other commercial/military communications access devices that provide access to NATO's classified and unclassified Wide Area Networks (WAN) and Local Area Networks (LAN);
- Operates, maintains and conducts 1st and 2nd level troubleshooting of all Voice Collaboration equipment within the CSU AoR;
- Assists in the production and maintenance of documentation related to daily activity logs, active and passive network configuration, network mapping, processes, Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) and service records within the AoR;
- Assists in performing fault diagnosis and troubleshooting with the approved available network management toolset (e.g. ISE, Prime Infrastructure, Spectrum, LAN Sweeper) and maintains daily operations logs and uptimes in accordance with the Service Level Agreements (SLAs);
- Assist in designs and completion of routine maintenance schedules in accordance with the Agency and manufacture guidelines and monitors operational performance of the CSU Network and Voice Collaboration infrastructure;
- Assist in executing communications infrastructure analysis and configuration in support of the Incident and Problem Management Processes;
- Assist in the Investigation for long-term solutions to re-occurring problems, and help identify areas for greater efficiency;
- Assists for the installation, management and lifecycles programs of all communications equipment within the CSU AOR;
- Maintains an awareness of ongoing network infrastructure configuration and maintenance activities to build and maintain an up to date picture;
- Supports On-The-Job Training (OJT) to ensure Digital Workplace Support Section personnel are proficient to support cross training in the section;
- Ensures actions are in compliance with cryptographic security standards;
- Provides collaboration and assistance to other work sections within Service Operations Branch in support of mission requirements;
- Deputizes for higher grade staff as required;
- Performs other duties as required.
Skill, Knowledge & Experience:
- The candidate must have a currently active NATO SECRET security clearance
- At least 3 year's experience with design, deployment and configuration of VoIP solutions including Call Managers, management appliances and endpoints;
- Experience with virtual environments (ESXi, vSphere, vCenter);
- Experience of multivendor (e.g. Cisco, Dell) Routing (WAN) and Switching (LAN), as well as Enterprise environments;
- Experience with the configuration and operation of Network Monitoring and Event Management systems (e.g. Spectrum, Splunk);
- Practical experience in on-line performance, accounting, fault, security and configuration management of digital and analog networks and associated transmission systems to include routing and switching systems in support of voice and data transfer;
- Experience in the use of an Incident Management System such as BMC ITSM;
- Knowledge and experience of implementing and operating WAN, LAN and Voice Collaboration technologies within an Enterprise network;
- Practical experience in network configuration, analysis, integration, testing, implementation and support;
- Practical experience in Wireless LAN infrastructure from installation to daily operations, experience to include troubleshooting faults and identification of interferences;
- Practical experience in the deployment, use and configuration of Cisco Prime Infrastructure.
