Job Description

As a Manager, Public Markets Middle Office Transformation in the Public Markets Middle Office group, you will collaborate with Investment Management, technology and data teams to create new capabilities and lead process improvement. You will be responsible for project management, designing strategic enhancements through all stages of the project lifecycle from initiation, development and delivery of the product to business clients. You will have a drive for doing things the right way, to enable the delivery of long-term value to the CPP Fund for the benefit of 20 million Canadians.

Core Accountabilities:

  • Own overall project outcomes, ensuring delivery of agreed business success criteria while tracking progress against detailed work plans and key deliverables.
  • Facilitate consensus-building on target states, documenting outcomes such as future-state operating models and solution architectures.
  • Leverage deep knowledge of the investment lifecycle to conduct user interviews, accurately capture business requirements, and translate them into clear documentation.
  • Proactively manage project and program priorities, navigating dependencies and competing demands across initiatives. This includes assessing resource needs and forecasting to avoid or minimize bottlenecks.
  • Provide timely and tailored communication on project status, risks, and issues to stakeholders at all levels.
  • Escalate critical issues and risks with a clear focus on business impact and recommended mitigation strategies.

Qualifications

  • Undergraduate degree in Accounting, Business Administration, Finance, Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • 6 + years of relevant experience.
  • Solid understanding of investment operations, trading, and investment management, with a strong grasp of supporting business processes and functions.
  • Proven track record of successfully managing projects of varying size and complexity through to completion.
  • Strong foundation in process improvement methodologies; formal training in process re-engineering is preferred.
  • Demonstrated process development expertise and sound knowledge of the project life cycle. PMP or CAPM designations are considered assets.
  • Skilled in conducting quick assessments to identify project risks and issues, with the ability to analyze risks at a detailed level.
  • Exceptional time management and prioritization skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and projects in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to adapt messaging to suit different audiences, including senior leadership.
  • Experience in Business Process Architecture design and implementation.
  • Excellent interpersonal and relationship-building skills; effective in one-on-one interviews and collaborative group settings.
  • Ability to lead and deliver multiple initiatives concurrently within a high-performance environment.
  • A collaborative team player who also thrives in independent work settings.
