Position: Quality Assurance Tester

Working Hours: We are asynchronous, work when you want

Location: Fully Remote

Salary Range: $700 - $1,500 USD/month

Eligible Locations: Anywhere, with a preference for Asia and South America

About Colonist

We're building the biggest digital board game platform on the internet. Last year, our players spent 874 years playing 33 million games on our Settlers of Catan alternative. We're a fully remote, asynchronous team spread across multiple continents, focused on crafting extremely polished digital board games that people truly love.

About the Role

As a QA Tester at Colonist, you'll be the guardian of quality for our platform used by millions of players. You'll play a crucial role in ensuring our games are polished, performant, and bug-free. This position offers the opportunity to develop your testing expertise while working on a product that brings joy to players worldwide.

What You'll Do

• Conduct thorough testing across our platform, identifying bugs, inconsistencies, and performance issues

• Create detailed, actionable bug reports with comprehensive reproduction steps

• Design and document test scenarios, particularly focusing on edge cases

• Perform post-release testing to ensure smooth deployments

• Develop and maintain testing checklists and processes

• Create and enhance automation tests to improve testing efficiency

• Collaborate with the development team to verify fixes and improvements

• Generate clear summary reports to keep the team informed of quality status

Requirements

• +1 year of experience as a QA tester

• Strong attention to detail and pattern recognition abilities

• Critical thinking skills with a methodical approach to testing

• Excellent written English communication skills

• Experience with bug tracking and test case documentation

• Understanding of user experience principles

• Ability to work independently and proactively identify issues

• Experience with gaming platforms and strong gaming intuition

• Proven track record of improving product quality through testing

Nice to Have

• Basic knowledge of HTML, CSS, EJS, and TypeScript

• Familiarity with Browser Dev Tools

• Experience with GitHub and VSCode

• Background in game testing or the gaming industry

• Experience with automated testing frameworks

• Knowledge of accessibility testing
